Light for my partner and me

but mostly my partner. We are in the process of negotiating a short sale for our house (we haven't paid the mortgage since January)

The appraisal just came in - forty thousand dollars less than what the buyers were offering, and one hundred thousand dollars less than what we owe.

We're not attached to the house and have been prepared to lose it for some time...but it caps off a tough three years in this new location which neither of us really likes. Struggling with embracing the lessons we are learning, and appreciating the good things that ARE happening.

Plus everything is in my partner's name so his credit's really taking a hit!

4. May something better come out of all of this

So many people are struggling now. Hopefully with people going through such terrible struggles right now those credit rating numbers will come to mean much less in the near future. Everybody will end up being considered a "bad risk" otherwise and no one will sell anything.

I hope something much better comes along for you soon.

Although it sounds like you're getting squeezed through a very tight place, hopefully you will come out of it in a better location and home for you. At the rate things are going, soon pretty much everybody will have crappy credit. So it might not matter so much in the longer term...

:hug: I'm glad at least you are not attached to the home. I couldn't sell my home a year or two ago when I should have because I was too attached. Now there is a for sale sign out front and I feel a sigh of relief when I see it. Unfortunately, when I (hopefully soon) find a buyer, it will likely be at a big loss to me as I invested a lot of sweat, tears, hopes, dreams and live savings into it...but hopefully something more fitting will come to me to. I love my little home, but hate my location as well.
