Need Help Finding Something!
I am looking for my husband's V.A. disability award letter. I've been trying to find it for several weeks now. We moved over the summer and the office is the last room we've tackled to unpack. I've gone thorough all the boxes where I thought it might be, and no luck. Now I've gone through most of the rest of them, and still nothing. It's a really important paper and we need to find it as quickly as possible at this point. We're wondering if there might still be a box we missed somehow in the garage that's full of papers. Or something? My husband is bad to stick things in odd places, you know, the old "it'll be SAFE here.." and then forget where he put it, too, so I'm thinking it could be anywhere.

It's a fairly thick sheaf of papers, maybe 10-15 sheets, 8 1/2 x 11, stapled together. It's on Veteran's Administration letterhead, and has a date stamped on it in either red or blue. The date, I am thinking, would be September ?, 2000.

If anyone gets any hits on this, I'd really appreciate the help. I'm about to pull my hair out!

Maybe the house spirits will help... haven't asked them yet. Was hoping not to have to...

1. Look inside books
That just popped into my head. I don't consider myself psychic, but it can't hurt to check.

6. This is a good idea.
Now, if I can get my husband to help me find which books he used to keep on his desk before we moved. If it's in a book, it would be one of those. (There are at least 1,500 books in this house. The thought of searching through all of them makes my head spin! LOL  )

7. Well, that's where they SHOULD be...
with what I call "important papers," and yes, that was in a drawer. But they're not. Maybe I'll look again.

9. Good idea. I do that all the time, putting important things away so they
don't get lost and they do because I hid them too well. I mentally go to the place I last saw them and try to visualize what I did after that. It usually leads me to the carefully hidden item and then forgotten hiding place. Don't give up if at first you don't succeed. Eventually, that memory will come back and you will find your paper.

16. Yes, I do that, too, sometimes, Cleita!
I can usually do exactly what you described and find whatever I'm looking for. But I don't think it was me who moved this from where it had been. I wouldn't have done anything but put it back in the "important papers" file. The last time I can recall seeing it, that's where it was. I think it was my husband who moved it, likely in some absent-minded way as he sometimes does (he really is like the "absent-minded professor" LOL), and he can't seem to remember anything about what he might have done with it. Yet. I will ask him to see if he can dream about where it might be. Maybe he could remember that way...

3. Maybe with the papers for your new house?
Did you have to use them then?

and that was last spring. I seem to recall proving his disability rating for income purposes in a different round-about way because I was unable to locate this document. But my memory is fuzzy at this point. All is a blur...

4. Is there a place where you eat
like a nook in your kitchen where there are a lot of windows? Could it be stacked in papers in that room?

13. Yes, there is such a room.
I can't imagine where, in that room they would be, but I will look again. There are a lot of books in there...

5. I'll take a stab at it.
I'm like your husband and drive myself crazy trying to remember the "safe place." But I get the impression that it's slipped under something, like a bed, chair, desk. I'm asking St. Anthony to help out you. He helps clear my mind.

11. Two of the things that I know he does are...
He's the remover of obstacles, and he's the God of New Beginnings.

I adore Ganesh (Ganesha).

Here's a carving that I have which I love:

Ganesh, please help, via grace, if you are able to help. (Thank you!)

15. I Love his attitude. And that he's dancing!
Beautifully bright, looks like ancient ivory.

Mine is a very serious fellow.

Now, we've got two Ganesh attitudes clearing obstructions to lead Silver Gaia to her important papers. Amen.

but not in a box necessarily. This stack seems to be "hiding in plain sight".

21. These are all great suggestions... thanks so much!
I'm still looking. In the meantime, hubby has called the V.A. and they are sending us something we should be able to use instead of that for what we need. I still need to locate this document, but the papers they are sending should work for what we need in the immediate future. YAY! :woohoo:

This should save us some $$$, which is why I was so frantically trying to locate it. :bounce:

:grouphug: :loveya: to all of you!

22. St. Anthony
is the patron saint of lost things. You might wish to recite this prayer:

Dear St. Anthony, look around--something's lost that must be found.

Be sure to thank the saint when you have found the papers.
