Poll question: Please help rename itsjustme
I thought I would get the ball rolling on the name change thing. I suggest that every person considering a name change start a new thread, as was suggested in the other thread.

I've been thinking about this, and I am pretty sure my own top four choices for my own name are the first four. However, this doesn't come easy to me and I am open to suggestions, or the use of the first runnerup names all bonged together in choice five, or something one of you dreams up.

Here is some of my reasoning--(and I see no reason to necessarily pick a Native American name, but RollingRiver would be closest).

RollingRiver--I love to swim in rivers, well, clean ones, and we go to the Tennessee River all the time. Nobody has RollingRiver as a name but someone does have Rollingwaters. I love the song "Let the River Run" by Carly Simon. Rolling River is just good metaphorically.

DodecahedronWorld-- It is a dodecahedron world, but most people don't know that. This is a good reminder for me and everyone else. And it matches my signature picture.

TrickleUp--my economic philosophy

ScalarPower or ScalarWave-- this is one suggested mechanism for the likes of astrology, distance treatments, etc., and not a single person's username starts with scalar. Strange. I would have thought that would figure in somewhere. I like unique so that's a big, big plus. ScalarWave is futuristic, cool. I'm not cool, though.

The runnerups are fine too, for various reasons, but some may be a little too close to current user names, or they just don't seem as good as the others, though KandR, well, maybe, if you think it's funny. Funny is important to me.

Thanks. I'll be happy to answer anyone else's poll.

Itsjustme was chosen when my third chakra was blocked, and it just doesn't resonate with me, though I don't hate it. I could keep it.

1. TrickleUp is fun to say!
I like the feeling it gives when spoken in my head :)

Since we need some lightheartedness in our economy, I like the way this feels!

2. Well.
Edited on Sun Jan-18-09 02:10 PM by votesomemore
I voted for Rolling River .. but am actually wondering if making it more *personal* might be in order, making it about YOU. IOW . River Roller or Rolling the River... Get it? Something that refers to You as opposed to the River.

ps.. Skinner doesn't say anything about post count. Will it be reset to zero if we change our names?

8. Well, RiverRat isn't taken
Edited on Sun Jan-18-09 02:44 PM by itsjustme
I feel a little like a river rat. Is it too close to SwampRat? I think they are different. I feel more like a river rat than a river dancer.

I think we keep our post counts. If not, I'll stay the same.

This poll is pretty close, LOL. Most people don't care, and I don't blame 'em! I'm going to feel really silly if other people don't start polls.

16. I don't remember if I was a member or just lurker
when the last change was open. But, I'm pretty sure the post counts were reset for those who changed.
Skinner says we can post questions in that thread, but there's nowhere to post them?

Would you consider using TN as part of the name?

And here's Dream's thread about "How did you choose your username":

Maybe some ideas there.

ps.. People are discussing their name changes in GD, so I think you are perfectly safe talking about your's here! You can stop feeling self conscious. ;)

5. Isn't that the Irish dancing group?
Edited on Sun Jan-18-09 02:32 PM by itsjustme
Riverdance? Well supposedly I had a great grandmother that could dance like that. But I am thinking of variations of River something or other. Maybe
RiverRat....... that fits me a little better. I'll have to make sure it's not taken.

The dream I remember most? I swam the entire Mississippi River, in one night. It was all downstream of course.

4. I like MindOverMatter
It retains the three-word cadence of "ItsJustMe" but is definitely stronger and more positive.

RollingRiver is nice, but it creates an earworm of epic proportions. ("Rolling! Rolling! Rolling on the river! Ri-ver doo doo doo doo DOO doo doo doo DOO doo doo doo...") Good song, though.

25. If you have to change it, I think RiverSwan would suit you better than rat ;=D
Somehow I can't imagine you being referred to as a rat, and rat can sometimes have a negative connection.

"Why you dirty rat, you killed my brother!"

But a Swan is graceful and elegant and that's how I see you.

I'll accept whatever you decide tho.

:hi:

I was hooked in high school geometry when my teacher had us make them. But I voted for RollingRiver, peaceful yet energetic flow about it.

The thing that popped into my mind was PureEnergy. Then I got EnergyAlchemist. Don't know why...

of the two, I like PureEnergy better.

12. I do post other places
Thanks for the idea

Mostly here, but also Health, Economy, and sometimes Photography. So that is the rub if the name gets too energetic. An energetic name that is cloaked is the best, I think.

I sure hope other people post polls, because I am getting uncomfortable talking about my name in isolation.

13. I'll vote for ScalarWave -
that one sounds quite intriguing. :hi:

Why do you say we live in a dodecahedron world? I once did a meditation (so long ago) that used those shapes, but can't reason why that's the world we live in.

14. I say that just because of my muscle testing, mainly
It seems to me to help to acknowledge all the frequencies inherent in the dodecahedron. As an example, phi (the Golden Mean) is in the dodecahedron, big time. Think of all the spirals in the world that have the golden mean in them (sea shells, galaxies, inner ear, DNA spirals, etc.). They are patterning themselves after the universe (we pattern ourselves after "God" or the force, or something).

Also, think of nanotechnology and buckyballs.

This interests me, too..

Poll closed. You all were an enormous help. I am going with some version of Rolling River, based on your votes. It might be RollingRiverRat, to refer to me, as votesomemore suggested, and three words, as was suggested by MorningGlow.

Now we turn our attention to all others who need help with a name.

19. Gonna stroll OT
here. Sacred Geometry.

A few months ago I was doing a lot of research. That's why I haven't been able to find a clip I watched then, I looked at so many different sites. It was a vid of an interview with someone who was claiming that sacred geometry is what keeps us tied to the 3rd dimension. It was only a partial interview, so I really would like to do more research on the subject. I'm going to look for it. But, I was wondering. What do you think of that concept? He seemed to be saying that in order for us to move to higher dimensions, we have to give up reliance on sacred geometry.

20. well, I wonder how many dimensions there are...........
I think maybe instead of there being eleven or twenty six dimensions, like in string theory, there are just different frequencies that we can tune into. And the frequencies fit together sort of like musical chords.

I'm kind of digging the Surfer Dude E8 concept. I like math but I am no math whiz or anything. There's bunches of dodecahedron like structures in it.

But what I am getting just with kinesiology is dodecahedron or "dodecahedron like" fields everywhere. The dodecahedron may be a kind of material path to infinity--a gateway, so to speak.

Buckminster Fuller=true visionary.

Edited on Sun Jan-18-09 08:07 PM by votesomemore
that accurately. I found it! Thanks to google web history. This is Paul Laffoley being interviewed by Freeman. I don't know what to think of this yet. He says the Fibonacci spiral is the "spiral of death". He contrasts it with the Archimedean spiral. It's over my head so far, but I find it interesting.

edit: He also talks about the Ginko Bilboa plant, which does not follow the Fibonacci sequence.

22. I like your name.
There are a few ways of thinking about 'itsjustme' - humble, strong, self-assured. Surprised that you are thinking of changing - but if you do, any of the above are fine but I do like your first name.

23. hmmm, it's winning
Thanks for the input.

And Skinner doesn't think we should change in mass. Plus I am getting a little inertia. I was sort of on the fence. Which means I would pick another one if I was starting from scratch, but I'm not. I was just kind of inspired by the other thread. Since we have the option to change signature line and avatar, maybe I'll just work with those.

I have a little hangup about names. Long story.

24. I think names are very powerful - don't get me wrong.
In the real world, I have gone from my having my given birth name (having retained my surname after marriage) to changing legally to my husband's surname when my son was 4 as too many people were 'asking' or implying that perhaps he was illegitimate. Silly people and at the time, I had no hope we would ever move outta there. So now obliterated my original and much disliked first name and using my middle name as my first name; use my birth surname as my middle name and my husband's last name as my surname too.

Result - I still feel like I am moving thru my current life incognito as few of my current friends or acquaintances know my 'true' name. I like it in an odd way but the name change definitely affected how I thought about myself and how I saw myself moving thru the world.

That's my long story. :P

26. I concur!!
I've had an affinity to the current name"it's just me" since the first time I saw it, after I joined. It's reminds me of my best friend when she calls me. It's the first thing she says, and it makes me feel a familiarity and comfort. ie...one to be glad to hear from !!
