2. Enlightening, thanks
I only knew that GW was Cancer. Didn't bother to look up the other side. Statistically speaking, it indicates something of a trend. Must do further research ;-)

NOT the kind of Age of Aquarius we had in mind eh?....

No offense to Aquarians, really. I realize there are many other factors in a birthchart :) but it is curious--may say something about the "type" we favor in political leaders--Air and Fire certainly would seem to have the edge.

Just chatting for fun. No harm meant.

6. You'd think that so many Aquarii...
... might be a little less right-wing??

7. That is a stumper, isn't it?
I have adored Aquarii (heehee) for a long time. But, have to admit, the ones I've been close to were cold hearted.
Yes. There have been at least five in the past 10 years. Only one was a RWer though.

No offense to any sign/planet. Aquarians wouldn't take offense any way.

8. My Republican father is Aquarius.
Thought Reagan was the greatest gift to politics.:puke: .

Obviously, I've argued with him ever since I was a teenager and wanted Nixon impeached. But don't forget, Aquarius is a FIXED AIR sign. Stubborn, with a HUGE traditional streak (they only have electrical impulses of eccentric Bohemianism--they're not real reformers or progressives) and not exactly warm and fuzzy.

But since I'm Sagittarius, I happen to LOVE my Aquari friends. No other sign tolerates my diarrhea of the mouth like a Jan/Feb friend. No one is a better pal, buddy, BFF. Just don't expect sympathy, compassion and anyone to kiss your boo-boos better.

I have Cancerian friends for that!

10. Yeah.
I found them to be good listeners too; or I just find them easy to talk to. I'm Leo. However, they are very impatient with "stories", and do not even think about telling them something they already "know".

3. yes, great w/aware candidates, unfortunately all of the bush
leo planets on/near his ascendant express (via W's lack of awareness....) in the most arrogant, dictatorial and rigid manner. Obama's leo sun is open and expressive, Gore is finally living his true warrior Aries Sun sign.

4. I consider Biden a Scorpio.
November 20, 1942.

Although, technically, some astrologers (read: BlueIris) would consider that the Scorpio/Sagittarius cusp.

Last time I checked, the majority of presidents were born under Scorpio, though there are many Fire Suns in the mix as well. Don't know if Obama's election will give us more presidents born in Fire signs or not, though I may look it up later.

5. Some wrong info is out there
saying his birthdate is Nov 24. But when I looked up the official senatorial website it says Nov 20, so you're correct, BlueIris.

So OK, Biden's a Scorpio/Sag cusp -- fire/water combination.

I'm a Sag sun, Scorpio rising--all I can say, is watch out for those sometimes contradictory fire/water types ;-) Outwardly inspiring and passionate (and feisty), but cool and focused behind the scenes. Interesting running mate for Obama in that sense.

Looking at Obama's chart, he has Scorpio at midheaven and also Neptune in Scorpio aspecting Sun in Leo, and venus in Cancer so he has some fire/water features also. (I realize this is simplistic & I leave the more in-depth interpretation to those more skilled).

Here's a good page on this re Obama:

http://www.neptunecafe.com/obama.html

"With no planets in the tenth or eleventh houses, Neptune in the ninth house is Obama's most elevated planet. Neptune was already a prominent player in his horoscope, since it's the only planet aspecting his Sun. Now, when Obama responds to a reporter's difficult question with "I believe...", we know that he's in touch with some transcendent, ineffable set of values which shapes his political worldview.

Obama's Neptune is precisely conjunct the U.S. Scorpio Ascendant. As JFK did in the early 1960s, Obama is channeling the nation's collective hopes and visions for a better world."

-snip-

"With Aquarius Rising, Uranus is the ruler of Obama's horoscope. With his Uranus at 25º Leo exactly 2007 when transiting Neptune was conjunct his Ascendant, thereby giving his personal stamp to the collective urge for redemption from failed political, social and economic policies.
Astrologer Liz Greene wrote the definitive book on Neptune, which in the political realm she associates with utopianism or socialism, and especially when Neptune is in Aquarius. Neptune's discovery in 1846 occurred the last time Neptune was in Aquarius, and coincided with the worldwide advent of socialism as a political ideology. Within modern American capitalism, Neptune's message is a leveling of the playing field, and as much as possible, a redistribution of wealth."

9. I "wiki-ed" Biden to find out if he was a Saj
Because they spoke so much about how his foot ends up in his mouth all the time!!! . You see, I was born December 16, and I can relate to those kind of gaffes. We Saj's speak on impulse, we think we're expressing ourselves juuuuust fine, then look around the room at all the hurt and angry faces. Oops. We did it again.

I've learned just to apologise, tho. The more you try to explain what you meant, the more you dig yourself in! Remember Kerry during the debates and his convoluted explanation re his pro-choice stance? I got it, and I know he thought he was as clear as day, but he left most people scratching their heads in confusion.

Not to mention his remark about soldiers and lack of education! Classic Saj!

So obviously Biden has some planets in Saj. (I haven't done the chart, but maybe Mercury...?)

11. I think Biden's foot winds up in his mouth (and other places) because of his Taurus Moon
Edited on Fri Oct-24-08 08:53 AM by BlueIris
and its tendency to go with the "My way or the highway" attitude.

To me, the Kerry moments you mentioned (I'm actually okay with his comments about choice during Debate 2) are about Moon issues, too. Kerry's Moon is in Gemini, sometimes the most loquacious Moon of all, though not neccessarily the most concise one. (Obama and John Edwards are also lunar Geminis, for those who didn't know.) I will always chock up Kerry's "stumble" into Pronoun-Gate to the Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio that week. And the gutless, stupid assholes who condemned him for it, of course.

13. More on presidential astrology:
http://www.neptunecafe.com/USPresidents.html

Apparently, Aquarius and Scorpio are tied for most represented Sun sign (coulda sworn Scorpio was in the lead).

14. Prior to the New Deal...
... in the days of machine politics, politicians and gangsters were closely allied. That underworld influence is definitely Scorpio. Were most of the Scorpio presidents in office before the 1930's?

16. Evidently. FDR was a solar Aquarius, Truman a Taurus, Eisenhower a Libra,
Edited on Mon Oct-27-08 07:49 PM by BlueIris
Kennedy a Gemini, Johnson a Virgo, Nixon a Capricorn, Ford a Cancer, Carter another Libra, Reagan an Aquarius, Bush I another Gemini, Clinton a Leo, Bush II another Cancer and Obama, of course, is another Leo.

Another interesting thing I saw noted on that website is the number of presidents with Moons in Capricorn. Apparently, we've had six—all served before the 20th century. The author of that site theorizes that the reason for this may have to do with the advent of mass communications, as Moon in Capricorn allegedly doesn't play as well on screen or radio. S/he also suggests that the prevalence of presidential Moons in Capricorn before 1900 indicates that before that time, getting to the presidency was more a matter of "raw ambition" than it was sociability, likability, and flexibility. In the 21st century, two presidential nominees have had Moons in Cap, Gore and McCain. It's my belief that both were at a disadvantage during their campaigns because of their perceived emotional reserve, a notorious difficulty for lunar Capricorns.

15. Joe Biden is a Scorpio.
His chart is widely available. Here's one I did not too long ago. Sun in SCO, Moon in TAU, and the rest is almost all SCO. He is SAG rising though...
