Is it over yet?
Today's the 15th, right? Mercury is moving forward again tomorrow, right? What a horrible day I am having! Computer problems, errant emails, miscommunications, missed connections. I know it's always worst right at the end of the retrograde period.

All that's left is for my car to break down on the way home!

Over 14 hours of work...

Sorry that you're also having a tough day.

8. Thank you, my friend. I also set the toaster oven on fire...
today at work. Luckily, nobody else saw it, and I caught it before the fire alarm went off, but there were actual flames inside of it. :(

I'm sure that the light that you've sent me has made a difference; I really appreciate it.

10. ouch!
I feel for you, deleting 14 hours of work! Ouch...that had to hurt.

On the other hand, to be honest, when I read you set the toaster oven on fire I had to laugh. I mean, it was clear you managed not to burn the place down. But talk about a bad retro mercury day!!!!

11. Yeah, I actually felt sort of protected today even though I had...
Edited on Thu Oct-16-08 08:14 PM by I Have A Dream
what appeared to be really bad luck. At least I just deleted my own work; I didn't delete something corporate-wide while I was logged in as root. :scared: Also, I didn't burn the building down or set off the sprinkler system/fire alarm. I can almost always see the bright side of bad situations; it could easily have been a much, much worse day if the details had been even just a little bit different.

Yet, here I am at work tonight doing the very same thing that I did last night. (And I'm finding it very difficult to concentrate, so I keep coming back to DU. :banghead:)

:)

4. Oh, sweetie!
 I'm so sorry to hear that! You've alluded to how hard you've been working - I feel so badly for you. I wish I could do something to help - all I can do is offer my love and energy and lots and lots of hugs.

9. Thanks so much, Delphinus.
If only I weren't a salaried employee, I'd have lots of extra money right now. :) There must be some reason that it's happening, so I'm going to do my best to prove to the Universe that I can handle it. Who needs sleep, right? ;) Also, I do realize that I still have it much better than so many other people who are really suffering right now.

Thanks so much for your efforts on my behalf; I can't tell you how much I appreciate your sending your beautiful energy my way.

12. oh, my gosh
How frustrating! Well, sometimes it is easier the second time around. Are you having a deja vu few moments? I am sending you love and all kinds of good vibes. I have completely filled the house with toxic smoke from a toaster in the past. Those things definitely have to be watched!

My only story is that I borrowed my daughter's Mac to make a slide show, and, being completely unfamiliar with Macs, completed it, sort of. and am left scratching my head as to whether it was the software that had the problem or the software operator (me). I guess I should have borrowed it tomorrow.

But after flat tires, near wrecks etc., over the last three weeks, I think I will celebrate by going on a long drive.

16. Oh well, now that you mention it....
I also had a flat tire. And the CD loader door on my computer has been opening and closing
constantly all on its own...toying with my sanity. LOL! So I guess I have some visits to the repair shops ahead of me.

Mercury the trickster...you devil you!

17. Thanks, itsjustme!
I've had my Mac for several years now, and there's still so much that I don't know how to do. I never took the class that Apple offered, and I've never even cracked the spine of the book that I bought which tells me how to use the OS.

I work with PCs all day, so I know quite a bit about how they work (even the more advanced things since I'm a programmer), but I haven't put any time into learning about the Mac. I hope that you were able to figure out why it wasn't working.

Have a great drive! :)

2. for me, there is a light at the end of my merc retro tunnel
As soon as mercury turned retro, my pc blew up. For 3 weeks now, it's been on life support and all the hours I was *supposed* to be working on my microbiology lab report and chemistry homework have been eaten up by me trying to nurse the old critter along, with occasional forays into here to help soothe my frazzled nerves.

Last Sunday, I totally melted down, with deadlines looming and pc needing cpr. Monday I was supposed to be studying for 2 tests. Instead, I spent 8 hours deleting every old document and photo and file I could to try to free a little energy and space.

And then at school I saw a sign on the door..."the computer equipment giveaway has been cancelled. will advise when it's rescheduled." Huh? What giveaway? What equipment?

Turns out they will be giving away used PCs; they just have to finish scrubbing them!!!!!

Next question for me was operating system. I really can't afford to buy a new os, any more than a new pc. My pc is 13 years old w/windows 95. then at lunch break, a couple young classmates from chemistry unexpectedly joined me, the oldster. We were chatting about PCs -- the young woman is going to get a new laptop. Turned out the kiddo does computer work...and has an extra 4 year old NT os. He told me to just give him the pc for a couple days as soon as I get it. He'll set up the os for me!!!!!!

Then I was doing homework at the school's technology center, and I saw a sign posted on the bulletin board. Turns out we can download their Norton antivirus for free for one home system used for schoolwork!!!!!!!!!!

I'm trying not to get deliriously happy, because it hasn't happened yet. But I *think* this mercury retro was about me letting go of (or erasing) my past to make room for new beginnings...

5. Ended yesterday around 4 PM EDT
It will continue moving very slowing until Saturday and won't emerge from shadow period until Oct. 31st.

my source: http://www.astroprofile.com/2008mercuryrx.htm

I'm a Gemini Sun and Libra rising. This means that mercury rules me and it has moved backwards through my first house and is now in the end of my 12th house. It has been real hard to move forward over the past month or so. The good part is that several people from the past have reentered my life, for the better.

it did! I'm a double libra, I don't normally complain much about merc. retrogrades, but this one got me.

13. OMG! I really felt like I skated through, all this time,
nothing...nothing major...through the whole retrograde....nothing....how could I be so lucky...

And in the last 24 hours....BAM!

Please, I would rather next time have the constant nibbling pain for several weeks than this suddenly EVERYTHING, in EVERY aspect of my life going awry. It's like nothing I touch will work.

And the fact that the shadow lasts until October 31 is just too perfect. That is the big deadline of this project that we have been working on since January, the deadline we have been living for all these months.

Only suddenly....what?...we have a grace period until mid November. Please, spirits, let this mean that we are done with this legislatively-required michigoss. That it won't come back to haunt us every Mercury retrograde...

I just can't believe this day. I posted the thread at the end of the work day, thinking about work, but I came home and it's no different. BAM. Miscommunication, missed drum lesson, errant email, failed computer communication, misunderstood directions...

I will never doubt again. Mercury...you have my utmost respect and reverence. Now please get a move on!

14. amen!
Actually nothing too major. I lost some important papers that I had place 'somewhere clever' a few
months ago. Can't remember where though. Still haven't found them BUT completely re-organized my
office and other papers in the process which I otherwise wouldn't have done. So a silver lining.

Still....I HAVE to find those papers soon!

15. This shadow period is the part
that's slaying me. I have to find people's homes, and the addresses have been all messed up. I've had to call every one of them personally to get directions. Frustration! As of today, I've also found myself embroiled in a personal communication snafu that has wide reaching ramifications. ugha. At least I now know that I'll be keeping my mouth shut for awhile.
