I'm feeling a little unnerved with the quiet that is going on.
I live out in one of the rural parts of the county, but in the last couple of weeks things have been very quiet. I couldn't put my finger on it but then I had an aha moment and I realized all the wild animals have left. Usually there is a daytime racket of hawks, ravens and other birds and a nighttime one of owls and coyotes. But in the last couple of weeks there is nothing. The days are warm, sultry and with very little wind. This is unusual for us as ordinarily there is a breeze that kicks up every afternoon for a few hours. I wonder if something is coming, like a big earthquake or something that have caused the wild life to run?

5. Yes, it is various faults actually.
We worry here because of the nearby nuclear plant as well. Well I hope the birds are taking a vacation because there is a storm coming in or something. However there isn't a cloud in the sky and I don't see a cloud bank out over the ocean either. I guess we will wait and see. I hope it's not something else more nefarious like my idiot neighbors up the road doing something to get rid of the wild life. We have had changes in some of the property owners and they are not environmentally friendly in what they have done with their land so far.

6. Cleita
Sending light to your area just in case what you have noticed is significant.

I hope that all is well there and continues to be well.

7. Hi Cleita
I sure hope it is nothing. My dad's family were all from SLO and he still lives close by. And I have always gone :wtf: that they built that nuc plant there on the fault. What could possibly be wrong with that idea, huh?

That being said, I also live in a very remote area on the other side of the country and have noticed it go all quiet sometimes and it makes me wonder if something is going to happen. And, happily, nothing ever does. And, later, the critters all start their singing again. So we will trust the same will be true there and keep you in our hearts.

8. Okay the birds are starting to come back but it's still weird.
This morning was quiet again. No bird noises around, not even from the ones we keep, our chickens and doves. Then I forgot about the siren tests at noon. I laid down for a nap and SCREEEAAM, the sirens came on. Well, so much for a nap, so I got up and decided to watch all the Obama/Biden hoopla. A couple of hours later I heard a crow and then more birds bit by bit as the afternoon passed. Now they are twittering around my fountain and the hummers are feeding off he flowers. Could they have known about the sirens and left the county because that's what they would have had to do and knew when to come back now that the yearly test is over? It's really so strange.
