Two and a half weeks ago, I lost my new job.

I was accused of lying about my qualifications, which I did not do, nor would I ever do, especially about national certifications that are so easy to check on.

Now however, I'm wondering if this is a message from the universe, or something. I'm basically sick of being a vocational rehab counselor (been doing that for 18 years), though I would have liked to stay in the job at xxxxx. But now, I'm really wondering if the powers that be just gave me a bit swift kick in the behind, as if to say, "Hey, you! Girlie! You don't have to keep doing this! There are other things out there, you know!"

I really don't know right now. Maybe it's still too close to the event, not to mention that it is my third big loss in just a few months.

I know others here have been in similar situations; not the exact one I'm in, but where things seem to crash down and you are feeling kind of lost.

If anyone cares to share their experiences, or their thoughts, or whatever, I would love to hear them.

:hi:

Edited to add: It just occurred to me that I may have already mentioned the loss of my job, and if so, my apologies for the redundancy. This post is mostly about the "kick in the behind" aspect.

1. Holy crap! I'm sorry!
Edited on Thu Jul-31-08 03:04 AM by BlueIris
That is INSANE. Don't know if it's a message from the Universe about your other options, but I think it tells you that the individuals running xxxx are not good coworkers and you are clearly better off. Because they are a) morons, b) delusional, c) complete jerks and possibly d) all of the above.

That's all I've really got, other than a favorite quote of mine (can't recall who said it at the moment):

"Three failures denote uncommon strength. A weakling hath not the grit to fail thrice."

4. Interesting ..

SeattleGirl .. I was just thinking about maybe starting a thread about this topic. I think you are asking about everyone's discouragement? I think I replied in your other thread that I get the impression they were covering up something. I've been offline a lot lately.

Anyway. Yeah, there's a lot of discouragement afoot. A lot of whammies. It may seem contraindicated to have a thread discussing discouragement in THIS group, but maybe not. Is discouragement the loss of courage? Is that wrong to admit? What is that other quote (excellent one from BI, btw) .. The Taoist tells us to welcome all our emotions. I read that here and have tried it. It's kind of fun to say, "Hello, Anger, you old dog"! or something like that. So, should we not welcome Discouragement and ask, "What are you here to show me"?

I just posted on the prayer thread that I am discouraged, and been fighting it. Loss of courage. That's what it means I suppose. Wondering where is the end of the tunnel and what sewage drain does it dump into.

But your OP is upbeat. You see possibilities instead of road blocks. Interesting..

edit: I hear this from others too .. there's also that component of why does shit happen when I think I'm doing the "right" things .. It's perception. Mine is presently skewed.

5. So, is there another line of work you are considering?.?.?
This might be the opportunity you needed to send you in a different direction.

I've worn so many hats in the occupational field and some I have enjoyed, some not so much. But it has always been a learning experience.

I've been a graphic artist, my most beloved occupation. I've had several jobs in this field.

House construction worker, my father built custom homes, so at a young age I was helping build houses, later he expanded his business to painting and finishing out the houses.

Office manager, even tho I really never had the title manager I did all the office duties, accounting; invoicing, excel, payroll, answering phones....

Waitress, this job didn't last long because the money was crap.

I have been trying to learn video editing and been rather lazy in pursuing that objective. {{Maybe I need a swift kick in the butt}}

Maybe the swift kick in the behind is serving a purpose for you to look into another field where you could enhance your other skills.

Keep your head up and think about what you would like to do.

6. I'm so sorry this happened!
But I'm glad you're able to seek something positive from it.

I agree with votesomemore that we should start a thread about discouragement. I have been feeling just overwhelmed by all the sad and bad things happening around me right now. I am usually relentlessly upbeat, but of late I have been more cynical and lately just darned hopeless.

I can only hope the tides are getting ready to turn for us all.

Good luck with your search for a new job. I hope you will find something better and more fulfilling than before.

7. That could very well be, SG
You know what happened to me--no need to go over that stuff again--we all know how severe it was.

But from those experiences, I learned how the Universe works: First, small clearing of throat. Repeat several times. If no response from hooman...light tap on the shoulder. Repeat as necessary, increasing strength of tap each time. If still no response from hooman...small push between the shoulder blades. If STILL no response from hooman...SHOVE OFF THE CLIFF (with no worries, as Universe dashes ahead and catches said hooman before hooman goes splat).

SG, definitely keep your options open, and open yourself to the Universe to see what kind of message you get. It might not happen immediately, though, so don't get discouraged (there's that word again) in the meantime. And know we're all pulling for you here and sending lots of buoyant white light! :hi:
