Sweet Little Kagome has gone back to the Cosmos..... :=(
My Sweet Little Kagome died within a week of Casper. I have been devastated by her passing and have been unable to post this here. She was only a little over a year old.

You see she was a very special kitty. She was a feral kitty and I was able to tame her and her brother, Inuyasha and sister, Sango, however, I had been feeding them while their mother was still nursing them and I picked up Kagome one day and mama kitty took them away for a week and a half. When they returned Kagome was near death.

Because of this she was born with some kind of ailments that I tried so hard to fix. I was able to help fix her ears which had become infected and bent downward, I was able to pull the scabs off them and they began to stand upright again. Then she had a problem with her losing fur. I called a vet who suggested putting antibiotic ointment on the troublesome spots and that seemed to work. She also had goopy eyes that I would clean almost daily.

There were several times we thought Kagome wouldn't make it. But she began to show great signs of improvements.

I crocheted a couple of blue and purple rope strings for them to play with, Kagome preferred the blue one and I would hold it while she chased it around. We also made them a Jungle Jim that they loved to climb on. We have a lattice wall that is about 10' tall, Inuyasha and Kagome loved to climb on it as well. They also loved to climb up to our roof and chase each other around. We could hear them whenever we were inside and they were up there.

One time when I went out to check on them they had killed a squirrel and were eating it. Poor squirrel was halfway eaten before I had gone out. I called on my hubby to check it out and he thought that perhaps they had found it that way, but on further inspection we believe they had eaten down to its torso. They ate every bit of it. Very bizarre.

Eventually I got them trained enough that we let them come into our home. Inuyasha and Sango kept growing, however, Kagome always remained kittenish.

After becoming indoor kitties, I had some Alien ET's that I tied a fishing line to and we would play chase the Alien. Kagome was very good and quick. One of the Aliens lost its head, so we played chase the headless Alien. This all took place inside my art studio and laundry room.

Around Memorial day Kagome started showing signs of not eating. I started feeding her with a dropper and giving her water. Even though we didn't have the money we took her to the vet. He gave her an antibiotic shot and gave us some medicine to give her. She started improving within the week. We set up a recovery room for her in our bathroom. She loved the attention!

We had to go to the Texas Democratic Convention from June 5-8, I was a Delegate for Obama. We left plenty of food and water. When we returned everyone seemed just fine.

Kagome kept eating whatever we allowed her to have, and she continued to get special treatment. Our living area has a doorway that can be shut off from our bedrooms, so Kagome got Special Privileges and was allowed in the back part of the house.

She started sleeping with us and she loved it. Whenever I had to go to the bathroom she was always there. She would usually go to her litterbox and then come over to me to check out what I was doing. It was really hurtful when she tried to climb up in my lap, as her claws were sharp as razors. So to avoid the pain I would pick her up and place her on my lap.

She loved to give me nose nibbles. She also loved to sleep with us. One of our other kitties Kilala even became a good companion to Kagome. Even tho Kilala would hiss at her, Kilala loved to give Kagome kisses, as did her brother and sister. Everyone loved to kiss on Kagome.

Then one week to the day of Casper dying Kagome died. She wasn't eating and she couldn't even lick the water I tried to give her with the dropper. She had a bowel movement that got stuck and we had to remove it for her. At this point she lost the ability to stand, and we suspected a stroke or seizure. Hubby started to do research when I told him that I thought she was dying. Her breathing had become very slow and she couldn't stand up or raise her head. I held her in my lap for several hours and then we laid her on the floor. Sango and Inuyasha came over and said their goodbyes.
We watched her having convulsions and decided to call the vet to take her in, but by the time he returned our call she had gone.

This was around 5:00 on the morning of July 4th. We fixed her a box and buried her under my bedroom window. Later that evening we watched the firework show from our street. I guess it was a good send off for my Sweet Little Kagome.

Unfortunately, we didn't let Kilala see Kagome's body (we have always done this in the past whenever one of our cats had died) but we were traumatized and weren't thinking straight. For a couple of weeks Kilala kept looking for Kagome and even voiced her concerns over what happened to her dear little friend.

I apologize for the long story, but this is the first time I have been able to write about her.
I have tears in my eyes right now from missing my littlest baby. I miss her so MUCH.

My heart aches for Kagome
My heart breaks for Kagome
Why did she have to go away
Will she ever come back to stay
My Sweet Little Kagome

I kept asking the Cosmos to return her to me. This has been done before with another cat I lost before. Hopefully "they" will bring us back together soon.

Here are a couple pics of Kagome. The first one is when she was still an outside kitty. The bottom one was after she had been allowed to live inside.

1. Oh, MagickMuffin, I'm so sorry.
To have lost both of your beloved friends so close together is so difficult. I will also ask the Universe to send Kagome back to you if she incarnates again. (This or something better for the highest good of all involved.)

Much love to your family, MagickMuffin. :(

3. Thank You IHAD
I feel guilty because I couldn't do enough.

However, when I asked the Cosmos to return her to me I asked if she could return in good health this time around. I hope the Cosmos will hear our requests and grant them. Thank you for offering your request to send her back to us.

It has been very difficult and I have so much to do, so I have been trying to stay busy and focused on the Election.

I just became my Precinct Chair, so that will really be keeping me busy in the months to come.

It has been very painful. We thought she would live with us longer than a year and that Kagome would make it after her illness in May.

I miss her so much.

5. Dear MagickMuffin, your little kitty Kagome is in paradise,
where her brave spirit continues to thrive. It sounds like her little body was just too weak to survive, but during her short life, she experienced so much love and caring from you and your family. She is sure to be grateful for having known the bonds of love between humans and animals, and I know she is grateful for that. Thank you for sharing her sweet, beautiful story with us. She was indeed a very special cat.

So sorry you've lost two furry companions in such a short time. My heart aches for you. May the sweet memories of happy times with them bring you peace and comfort.

She did indeed have a Brave Spirit. When she was a kitten she could hold her own when playing with Inuyasha and Sango. But Inuyasha seems to take after his father and he's huge for his age. We noticed his dad one day (we're almost certain it's Inuyasha's dad) and his head is the size of a softball. I have never seen such a big head before. I just hope Inuyasha's doesn't get that big. :scared:

Sango size is in between Inuyasha's and Kagome's. Sometimes they played alittle to rough with Kagome. I would have to interfere because Kagome would start crying.

My hubby would laugh at me whenever Kagome sat in my lap and Kilala wanted into the living area, or my tea kettle would start whistling. I would pick Kagome up and carry her with me to open the door. I would cradle her by her torso, with her legs dangling downward.

I do have some videos of when they were outside kitties playing in the backyard. When I finish my grieving process I will edit them together to remember how precious they were as babies.

6. Kagome rocked!
What a cutie pie.
About the squirrel,to eat a squirrel that is not strange for cats to do.Cats are predators, they are sweet to us, but a mortal threat to squirrels rodents etc. .They just had a successful hunt that's all and chowing down on it..

12. Yes she did ROCK
She took after her mother. Not a lot of meat on their bones. Inuyasha and Sango are rather stocky little kitties.

Yeah, I do know that cats will eat squirrels. It was just surprising that they ate the skull and everything in between. I checked on the progress periodically and one time I went out there was only a foot left and the tail. Went back later and that was gone as well.

Yum Yum. It must have been quite a feast for them.

7. I'm so sorry for your loss, MagickMuffin. Kagome is a beautiful kitty and I know
she's playing and enjoying new health on the other side, with her friend Casper. I'm so sorry for what you're going through here, though...it's so hard to lose our furbabies. Hugs and love and peace to you today and all the days that follow.

8. This is so sad MagickMuffin
I remember your post in the Pets Group about these little ones.

I am so sorry. I do know what it feels like to lose a beloved sweet little pet, but, to lose two in such a short time must be so very painful.

I hope you know that there are many of us here who understand. I am sending you some hugs.

One thing: I hope you can look back and realize that you gave these "little critters" so much more than they would have had. They knew love, and they knew consistency, trust, and happiness because of you.

14. It has been extremely sad around here
Kagome was the most trusting kitty. She was the first to never run away when I approached her while she was eating. It took a while for her to trust me but she knew that I wasn't going to eat her.

Sango on the other hand took a lot to gain her trust. I would have to hold the food between my fingers and she would take it and run off. Eventually I was able to grab her, and place her on my lap, I told her one day she will love my hands and the pets that come with it. Now she can't get enough of my pets. Sango is also very French, in that she loves to rub one side of my nose and then the other side. She's been kneading my bread basket i.e. my tummy while I've been responding to this thread.:loveya:

10. That is so sad
My 18 y/o kitty hasn't been doing very well this week. She has always been surprisingly strong and nimble. She's having trouble jumping up on the bed, not eating much or drinking. I've been crying off and on since this started. My 23y/o son cried with me this morning when I drove him to work. He's desperate for me to take her to the vet to see what's wrong. I want to let her go in peace and not traumatize her with a car ride and medical tests. She's a little better today and we'll go to the vet tomorrow if she's not much better or doesn't pass. I don't know what to do. I've done a lot of hospice care and feel like if it's her time to go and she isn't suffering why prolong the ordeal with IV's or torment her with tests? I'm not wild about putting her to sleep because she's not acting like she's in pain. I just hope she'll get better and live for a long time. I am really touched by your story because it's so close to my heart right now.

16. I hope your kitty gets better, will send love and light your way
I've had so many cats in my lifetime that I know that with age they have a tendency to become very fragile creatures. Usually renal failure is the biggest culprit.

I've only had to put two down because of this disease. The other two died at home who also suffered because of renal failure. While there is some reward in them passing at home, it is painful no matter how it comes about.

I didn't get to be by the side of my dearest cat Simba. I rescued him from the middle of the street coming home late one evening. I think someone threw him from a moving car.
I placed him on a frisbee and we brought him home with us. He was a Russian Blue and he loved to play one of our synthesizer we had on the ground.

I know you'll do the right thing when the time comes:hug:

18. I am so sorry for your loss. Kagome was a gorgeous little girl
It is amazing how much love can live in those tiny precious fuzzy bodies that house their sparkling souls. I join you in asking, if possible for the highest good of all, that Kagome returns when she is ready and in a longer lived physical form.

Namaste

23. I'm sorry you lost Miss Kitty
Even tho death is part of our cycle and we know it is inevitable it none the less is a traumatic experience.

When I realized Kagome was about to die I remained rather calm about it. I held back my tears until she started going into convulsions at that point I couldn't keep it together.

My hubby experienced the worst of it, as I was calling the vet. I was still in the same room and he was really hit hard by Kagome's dying spirit. I was upset that I wasn't able to be close to her, but he reassured me it was not something I should have had to witness.

Hang in there SG, with time the pain will subside and we can relish our memories of our loving friends who left us too soon.
