I just submitted my first children's novel
to an agent. I dithered about this for three years before finally working up the nerve to send it to someone.

If you have any good vibes to spare, can you please send some my way? I'm a nervous wreck.

thanks, and blessing to all of you!

2. Thank you!
It's really funny what got me moving.

This past Thursday I decided to pull a rune just for the heck of it. The rune turned out to be wunjo, joy, right side up. I read the explanation in Ralph Blum's Book of Runes. I've read it before, any number of times, but this time I focused on the line, "It is proper and timely that you submit..."

So I went to work and put together the synopsis, finished the query letter, and formatted the first chapter. Today, it was "time to submit."

Thank you for your warm encouragement!

13. Eric Carle is the greatest. I think his work is brilliant.
I love beautifully illustrated books like those of Jan Brett, Cynthia Rylant, and Gloria Houston. And the Olivia series and the David series are hysterical. When I was a child, I loved the Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books, fairy tales, Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, Bobbsey Twins, and I guess my favorite book was East of the Sun and West of the Moon.

You're absolutely right about continuing to send it out. I have contact information for 2 other agents in case this one doesn't pan out, and I intend to keep sending it out until someone accepts it. I've read that some well-know books were rejected as many as 35 times before they sold.

A friend of mine started submitting her short stories to e-publishers on the internet. They were published on-line, and she's been doing it for years now.

very open minded. I hope you don't have to wait to long.

26. Good luck, Liberal Esto!
It's typically harder to get an agent than to publish a book, so I will be crossing my fingers and sending all good vibes that the agent LOVES your work.

You've done the hardest thing -- you've finished a project and sent it out into the world. The rest is, well, scary, but it's not the hardest.

Congratulations, and I hope that you did something really wonderful for yourself as a result!
