The Shraddha is an ancient Vedic ceremony of prayers and offerings for pleasing and giving peace to a departed soul. During the ceremony, the energies of all creation are symbolically offered. These prayers release the soul from all attachments of the world and help family and friends accept the death and liberation of a loved one.

It sounds beautiful and profound.

I am going to one on Sunday. The husband of a good friend of mine died last week of throat cancer. She had been supporting him on his dying journey for a long time and inspired me with her grace in the midst of great pain. They were both very involved with a local Buddhist community, so I'll be interested to see what the Shraddha is like.

1. It does sound lovely.
It feels authentic.

As a floral designer, I did once do a job for a Celebration of Life event, which they held rather than a "funeral". I love that idea too.

2. Hi, Shrine. Good seeing you again.
Hope all is well with you and yours. The shraddha should be lots of energetic fun. I trust you'll get a heaping helping. Best regards.

it makes me smile...even though you might not be doing it on purpose. :D

4. Hey, lady.

Yeah, I remember having this conversation early on. I did it to raise a smile. And to acknowledge your portalness. :hi: Good seeing you again.
