The other neighbor kit, Earle, continues to own this place.
Boogie has gotten large enough that he does a challenge. He is still itty bitty. But has a longer neck.

But we still have Earle as a dinner guest. Every day.

I don't have the heart or impetus to say no to Earle. He still eats out here.

A cat and a half. Zowes.

I don't know how to shut this off. Or would I even want to.

pps . do we love cats because we are part witch?
Witch was my birthood. The call given, the call answered.

edit: eek. Am I a cat lady?
I can think of worse things.

1. If you're a witch, you're a "good witch!"
We all have the same "susceptibility." I even like my cats all-black!

My parents have succombed and they have 2.5 cats, too!

They had Meggie, Maurie, and The Imposter.

One day The Imposter got his tail shut in the door and Maurie used the opportunity to slap him upside the head a couple times.

When The Imposter got loose, he ran Maurie up a tree. He then huffily relocated to the neighbors.

But he still shows up for dinner!

I will feed any cat who drops by. I will find any cat who needs a home a home.

I have a friend who is currently boarding 16 cats!

Cats + Me = irresistable.

I will love seeing what Underground Panther posts on this thread.

2. I have one of those, my stepdaughters cat who lives in the
main house but drops by for a snack when the mood suits him.

As long as Earle isn't getting overweight I don't think you are doing any harm.

3. Yes, lots of things worse than being a "cat lady."
I used to feed my neighbors cats. Two females, one really sweet, the other was a piece of work. Their owners were two young guys and I didn't know how well they took care of them. I made sure I always had a bowl of food and water out for them, just in case.
Spirit always saw that I had the funds available to feed kitties, whether ferals or not, so I just did it. :hi:

4. I feed all the critters who show up.
You can't laugh at me, but I keep dog food around because I have a couple of neighborhood dogs that like to come hang out. We don't even OWN a dog! When one of them shows up we know who they are and we call them by name. They come in my back yard and play with the kids and we feed them until their people come to collect them. A couple of times they have even been given a bath...

We have one local dog that gets out pretty often. Maisey is at my house about once a month. I take her back home and her people are not terribly thrilled to see her and I can tell she is not terribly thrilled to be there. It is really sad. Last time I took her home I asked them if they want me to try and find somebody to take her. They said yes. It makes me sad but I can't keep her and I have not found anyone who wants her. She's a sweet dog and I don't think her people have been terribly good to her. She deserves better.

We used to have a neighbor cat that would come hang out, however we lost Rudy last fall. She was 16 years old. We kept food out for her, and so did about three other neighbors. She was fat from all she was eating at the various houses. In the winter she would hang out in the next door neighbor's house rather than be outdoors. Every year somebody would take her to the vet for shots and stuff (t was our turn two years ago...) We all miss her--she was an excellent mouser!

I put seed out for the birds and I put old produce and corn out for the bunnies and squirrels. I ALWAYS leave a pumpkin out for the squirrels to nibble on between Halloween and Thanksgiving.

Come to think of it, I feed neighborhood kids with some regularity too...

Enjoy your part time kitty!
