Upcoming book read: "Matthew, Tell Me About Heaven" by Suzanne Ward
Several people have indicated the desire to have a group book read of the book "Matthew, Tell Me About Heaven - A Firsthand Description of the Afterlife" by Suzanne Ward, which is the first of the Matthew books.

The official posting for the book read will begin on Wednesday, September 27. This will give everyone ample time to purchase the book. A future thread will be posted with more details as to which chapters will be discussed when.

Most people who visit this group are probably aware of Matthew, but for those who aren't, here's a link to Matthew's website:

http://www.matthewbooks.com/index.html

and here's a brief description of the book:

A comprehensive look at Heaven that will change your life.

Through a series of heartwarming telepathic conversations between Matthew Ward (who died at age 17) and his mother, Suzanne, we learn about the astonishing activity and diversity of life in the realm we call Heaven.

Matthew clears up common misconceptions about the world where he lives (he says its proper name is Nirvana) and he explains why, in this unprecedented time in the history of Earth, it is essential that we know the truth of our beginnings and our relationship with all of creation. Without that truth, we cannot understand either the purpose of our lives or how to prepare confidently and joyously for what is to come.

3. We'll start discussing it on Wednesday, September 27. I'll post...
a thread with more details once I have a copy of the book. (cassiepriam and I are going to try to figure out a good breakdown of the chapters.) Once we have that, I'll start a separate thread informing everyone.

I'm glad that you're going to be involved, BattenS.

14. We still have over a month before it starts, so it's highly...
unlikely that you'll have a problem. However, given MY recent experiences with packages, who knows? (Mercury retrograde was a killer on me in reference to packages, as you know!)

I just received my book today from Amazon.

19. Actually, P_L, you don't have to have the entire book read by the time...
that we start. We'll be discussing it section by section, so you'd only need to have the first section read by then. It will only be a few chapters by September 27th, and then we have an entire week to discuss it before we start on the next section of the book the following week.

I've been thinking about you lately. I recently bought a book you recommended for one of these discussions, The Diary of Opal Whitsley. I'm in the middle of several other books right now, but when I've thumbed through this one, it looks very appealing, quite thought provoking. I was going to write you once I got started on it. It will be good to discuss a Matthew book with you first though.

32. The Diary of Opal Whiteley is the actual diary of a little girl
who grew up in a logging camp in Oregon during the early part of the 20th century. She talked to the trees, adopted field mice, and had an unusual ability to communicate with animals. I read this book with a group of childrens' lit teachers who were using it in their classes. We all fell in love with Opal and I still think of her often, even though I haven't read anything about her in several years. When The Diary of Opal Whiteley was published, it was enormously popular, but a short time later, Opal was declared a "fraud" like so many of our psychics and channelers are today, and her book went out of print. It has been adapted by a childrens' book author (can't remember her name) as a book for children, and has been reprinted in its entirety in a book by Benjamin Hoff, who also wrote The Tao of Pooh. Mr. Hoff believes Opal's story (so do I) and went to great lengths to research and disprove the charges against her. It's a fasinating story and I'll be happy to look up more information (there's a lot) if anyone wants to discuss it.

33. I've been on vacation and when I got back, I had figs up to my
eyeballs, so I've been making jam, preserves, and canning figs for the past week. I'll be going to Hawaii (my 1st time) on Sept. 16t, so I'm trying to get things in order before I go.

27. Dream, do you know if there is a way to have a bookmarked
reading list on this forum? I think that it what it would be called. A listing somewhere of books and mini reviews by members. I can show you how it is done on other forums. I wonder if it would be permitted here?
Or perhaps we could just have a separate book list thread. Then anyone could post the name of a book they are recommending.

I would like to see what others are reading, and can share my reading list. I am reading such a great book right now about soul growth, I want to recommend it to everyone!

to a consensus within the group that people want this to be pinned at the top of the thread list. (Some might really like it, and some might really object to it.) How would we be able to determine this?

I'll start a thread for this purpose.

at me on a webpage. However I will go with whatever the group wants.

I like the thread idea. It can just be an ongoing thread?
