What personality type are you and does it really describe you?
Edited on Mon Aug-21-06 06:05 PM by I Have A Dream
There's been some discussion in another thread about personality types, so I thought that this would be an interesting question for the people who frequent this group. I'm wondering how accurate it is for you.

If you don't know your personality type, here's a link to at least one test that is supposed to determine your personality type:

http://similarminds.com/embj.html

Here's a summary of the 16 personality types:

That's why you know how to do anything on a computer.
And can attend to details and organization.

Don't all the NFs here drive you crazy Dream? How do you stand us :)

Edit to add, I just looked at your scores and
you are close on the S and N dimension. So while your preference is S, you can can speak N language!

By the way, it wasn't my thread, and, if it had been, I wouldn't have minded at all because I personally think threads should go where they go. (I personally actually like it when they go off on tangents.)

I think that it's a wonderful discussion topic, cassie.

I need a smiliecon that is whacking some one upside the head. (I'd ask you to help me find one Dream, but I am going to use it on you so I better not:).)

First of all your S and N scores are fairly close. So while your easiest piece is S, you can do N. Look at the scores yourself to see what I mean.

Also every one can be intuitive, every one can develop psychic skills. And I cannot tell you how many times you have posted something soon after I was thinking about it. What do you call that?

Besides if we didn't have some S and earth on this forum it would probably float away totally.

(Go down to the bottom of the page for links to the other personality types).

Star Trek Personality Test Results: INFJ

"It takes courage to look inside yourself, and even more courage to write it for others to see." - Sisko

Qualities

People like you are typically global thinkers with great passion for your unique vision. You are highly creative, original, and independent. Your idea of torture is to be stuck in a rut, and you get impatient with people who doubt your insights or want to stick to traditional methods for tradition's sake. Your best friends share their feelings and opinions easily without forcing them down your throat. You are greatly offended when others show disrespect for your beliefs and values. You dislike disorder in your personal space. As you are quiet in your "natural" state, people can easily misjudge the depth of your devotion. You are inspired, not impulsive. You're even cautious, deliberate and eager to make plans. You're polite and somewhat reserved, especially as others have made you feel awkward for your beliefs in the past. You're quite organized and, when properly motivated, highly productive.

Goals

Your primary goal in life is to follow through on your ideas and be faithful to your vision. Your reward is to have others trust your inspiration and to watch your dreams come true.

Work

Your career must serve society, particularly those factions that need a champion. As you have a strong suspicion regarding the corruption of institutions, you need to believe not only in your own work, but in that of the company/institution your work for. You may simply have given up on trusting others and work by yourself (at least in your own mind). Beware becoming too involved in office conflicts and politics. It's hard for you to distance yourself from others' conflicts, but the upsets associated with your empathy may severely interfere with your ability to do your job and to act for your own good.

Relationships

Your sense of idealism extends automatically to your relationships, so personal betrayal is disastrous. You're not the greatest with day-to-day needs and details, so a life partner (or assistant at work) with good organizational skills will makes things easier. You can smell a phony from a mile away and are quick to condemn, so you probably don't have that many close friends. Ironically, others may feel quite differently from you and consider you a friend when you think of them only as an acquaintance.

Jobs
Good careers for your type include special education teacher, holistic health practitioner, director of religious education, art director, writer, editor, and religious educator.

26. A Lot of "NF's" here...
THE IDEALISTS

http://www.keirsey.com/personality/nf.html

Go to link for different kinds of NF idealists. Here is general description:

IDEALIST NFs, being ABSTRACT in communicating and COOPERATIVE in implementing goals, can become highly skilled in DIPLOMATIC INTEGRATION. Thus their most practiced and developed intelligent operations are usually teaching and counseling (NFJ mentoring), or conferring and tutoring (NFP advocating). And they would if they could be sages in one of these forms of social development. The Idealist temperament have an instinct for interpersonal integration, learn ethics with ever increasing zeal, sometimes become diplomatic leaders, and often speak interpretively and metaphorically of the abstract world of their imagination.

They are proud of themselves in the degree they are empathic in action, respect themselves in the degree they are benevolent, and feel confident of themselves in the degree they are authentic. Idealist types search for their unique identity, hunger for deep and meaningful relationships, wish for a little romance each day, trust their intuitive feelings implicitly, aspire for profundity. This is the "Identity Seeking Personality" -- credulous about the future, mystical about the past, and their preferred time and place are the future and the pathway. Educationally they go for the humanities, avocationally for ethics, and vocationally for personnel work.

Social relationships: In their family interactions they strive for mutuality, provide spiritual intimacy for the mates, opportunity for fantasy for their children, and for themselves continuous self-renewal.

Idealists do not abound, being as few as 8% and nor more than 10% of the population.

32. IMHO,
We could use alot more "NF"s in our population (btw, is the 8-10% referring to the USA?)

Just imagine if the number was up to, say, 25%!! :D

"wish for a little romance each day..." I wonder if that's why movies like the "Pirates" ones are having such an effect (I don't necessarily mean Johhny Depp as the star, lol)-maybe more NF's evolving??

34. Yes and but ..
I am very NF . the I/E is close as are P/J. But NF is over the top. The main problem with this is that I expect everyone one else to have the ethics I do. But I find they don't. I guess there is a reason for that. Advocation and tutoring are my strong suits. Even without conscious decision I find myself in those roles.

And, oh, wouldn't it be great if monster-fearful-leader would assign NFs to Diplomacy, for the sake of the planet. I don't think he does.

Being ethical and integrated are my highest ideals. I strive for them. Doesn't mean I'm always functioning at that level. But maybe I am and just don't know it. The more more.

I hope we make a lot of money too :D

36. We're
a minority in an increasingly ethically-challenged culture. I've had problems with that too. If you try to be honest and fair, you will definitely get ripped off. Count on it. One of the big problems between Democrats and Republicans is that one side is losing in a dog-eat-dog game...& it's always the liberals by the very nature of our personalities. It gets tiring trying to demand a shred of honesty in government. We need a new game with new rules. This old one is dysfunctional.

Yes, wouldn't it be nice if the NF type could be respected for our niche in diplomatic realms...but we are not on the Starship Enterprise. We're on the Hindenberg.
