I've been popping in and out alot lately due to DH's physical issues caused by his job. I am a bit worried about a nightmare? I had last night,(saturday going into Sunday). I dreamt that we were staying in a fairly new neighbourhood and that he had the white company car parked out front on the street. The weird thing is that for some unearthly reason, I was up at a time BEFORE sunrise, something I can assure you all that I NEVER DO unless I'm already up. I was getting him ready to go somewhere but it wasn't work, of that I'm certain. Now, across the street, parked along the kerb facing the north, (I knew that this street went from the north to the south unlike the east-west street I live on right now), was a brand new 18 wheeler truck but just the cab. It was a citrus orangey yellow in colour and it had red writing outlined in black on it's side. It had disengaged it's trailer, which was left ON THE LAWN OF THE HOUSE THE CAB WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF. I remember that the truck was a tow truck for other trucks, buses and RV's, which didn't make sense considering it was towing a trailer. Now, this neighbourhood was designed with cape cod style homes which were semidetached and all of them were a cadet gray, trimmed in black with white accents. I remember the black false shutter trim on the homes and even the colour of the sky, which was various shades of pink, peach and mauve with the rising sun and just a few wispy clouds to the north.
The sun was rising over the tops of the homes across from ours, as we faced the east. I watched the trucker come out to the cab, (heck I even remember what he looked like, about 5'8" in height, with straight taffy brown hair that was thinning in the top of his head. He had a medium bushy moustache that was a darker brown that his hair. He had a blue flannel shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows and he had a pot belly large enough that his pants were belted UNDER his belly. Gosh, I even remember the fact that he had a pair of steel toed work boots that looked like they'd had oil spilled on the toe box and he was smoking what I believe were camel or turkish cigarettes. They were brown in colour. He had a metal lunch pail, it was a dull chrome colour and a pair of aviator style sunglasses on. He had a funny walk as if he was slightly pigeon toed.)
He walked out to his "rig" and got into the cab, first pausing on the running board to look at something in the cab. He started the engine. He sat there letting it run for the better part of what seemed to be 3 minutes. Then as he started to pull away from the kerb, something happened to caused him to loose control and flip, as if there'd been some sort of explosion on the right side of the cab. The truck "slid" across the street, smashed into DH company car,( it was white just as the actual car is) and catch fire and I do mean an inferno. The trucker was able to get out of the cab without getting hurt, how I'll never know but the truck and most importantly, the company car burned down to the frame. When the fire was finally out,( Noone else came out of their homes in response to the din of the explosion, crash or fire and no firemen ever were called nor showed up), DH car was a completely burned out husk. The tyres were wholly burned away, the interior no longer existed, as a matter of fact, the body had no colour other some areas that looked rusted. DH came to the front window after the fire was well and truly underway and I stopped him from running out to the burning car. The poor truck driver was on our lawn standing on his bottom lip with his lunch box. not a scratch on him.
The next thing I know, my MIL, who passed in March, appears and tells me to tell DH that she's alright and that he'll be fine no matter what. The strangest thing is that as we're talking, the scene shifts to a boating marina and we're in a Thai Restaurant with DH sitting at a table waiting for ME because he can't see his mom. Get this... The interior of the restaurant is the same colour as the truck that burned, a citrusy yellow or better yet, Saffron yellow. Weird.
I wonder if this dream is meant to reassure us because we found out the his company denied his disability pay. When his doctor found out about the outcome, he was livid because he told us he'd spoken to the company doctor for at least 15 minutes explaining everything in detail. He encouraged DH to reapply. Funnily enough, the state is paying disability to DH and in fact, told us that they want him to apply for workers comp because they have determined that his job caused his injury. Anyone is welcome to wade into this one to tell me what they think.
