1. Again and again, the experts have told me "no," but...dude, read this:
http://www.aplaceinspace.net/Pages/PClampHomophobia.html

There's an interesting guy who feels he has identified a formula through which not GLBT identity, but homophobia, can be detected in the natal chart. Fascinating reading to say the least.

3. uranus and mars
aspects, or uranus and venus aspects are supposed to show something. Strong aspects, like square or trine or sextile- or having a bunch of aspects- I've heard that can show homosexuality, or unusual inclinations. I remember that there are some other aspects that were mentioned, but unfortunately have forgotten most of what I'd read. I do remember that venus/mars in water signs can create a more internal, possibly feminine aspect. Whereas mars in a fire sign would be more outward and possibly have a more masculine affect. But masculine and feminine really have little to do with homosexuality, so... I would bet that you could google or dogpile related keywords and it might bring up some articles on being gay. It does seem as if venus and mars would be impt., and aspects to neptune as well could show an aesthetic difference in sexual orientation. It would be interesting to hear from the astrologers, what they think.

4. I've seen some strong Libra...
in some gay men's charts, but I have no statistical analysis.

5. Not me, someone else I'm wondering about

but Venus in Libra, sextile Jupiter and square Saturn. Gemini Moon, Scorpio Sun & Leo rising. Sun Square Uranus, Mars Square Uranus. Things that make you go "hmmmmm" - but according to the artile Blue Iris posted, this guy doesn't see to think there really are any indicators, at least from what I gathered from the article. I know I had a book once (out on loan) that pointed to a particular aspect and it said "sometimes this configuration denotes bi-sexuality or homosexuality". But can't remember what it was.

6. Yes. gender ambiguity indicators
But it is not always clear cut as the reasons for incarnating with gender ambiguity can be complex.

Uranus in 8h

Can be an indicator of sexual orientation and ambivalence. And/or an unconventional approach to relationships. There can be many reasons for this choice in the current incarnation. The soul may have had a difficult time in relationships in the past, being too attached to freedom. May have been overwhelmed with its sexual power. May have used sexual power in ways that were not healthy. Or the soul wants to integrate male and female energy in this life. Or it may be that the soul just want to be different in this life, experimenting with extremes.

Uranus/Venus aspects and Venus in Aquarius

For example some souls may have issues around commitment and intimacy, or have taken a vow of celibacy in a past live. Or they may have had relationships in past lives where sex was cut off from love, and they remained detached, never giving their heart to another. Or they could have given their heart away and now it is metaphorically missing. This soul basically does not believe it needs love and may reject it when offered. Please note that this placement does not mean someone is necessarily gay or bi, just the reason underneath the manifestation of sexuality in this incarnation.

Also a soul who has been a man say in many past lives may decide to come back as a female to learn about female energy and incarnate into a woman’s body. However if the male energy is very strong there may be difficulties, I think this is where we get into trans gender uses, which is not exactly your question. One indicator of this would be a chart with an imbalance of positive and negative energies, or the sun, moon, venus, mars in the opposite quality to which it is attuned (Mars in Pisces or Venus in Aries etc). This may indicate the soul is trying to switch sexual roles in this life.

Please note that these placements may or may not manifest in sexual orientation in this life. For example I have some of these aspects myself, I am straight, but I have been a male in many past incarnations and I came back in this life to learn about being female. I am to integrate the male and female parts of myself.

It is very critical when doing astrological interpretations to take the client into account. You have to know your client and fit the reading into the client’s real life instead of trying to fit the client into the chart. I call this client centered astrology, as opposed to chart centered astrology where the chart is more important than the client. The later is not the right way to do it in my mind!

So please do not over/mis interpret these aspects and placements.

7. I think uranus is over rated
as a predictor for homosexuality, but maybe it can show when someone's preferences are not the norm. I'm sure that gender xpression would be in there, too, somewhere. But with gender, it would be more about the way you present- ie, masculine/feminine presentation and internal core vs external. I would think venus and mars would be involved in that. A transgender male could possibly have some venus placements- house positions, aspects, sign- that would show a more feminine xpression. And vice versa for a transgender female, who maybe could have a powerful mars or even pluto involved.
But regarding someone's identifying as gay, that could more be shown thru how you relate to the same gender. iow, looking for the moon, venus, and other planets (or asteroids) identified with women. In traditional astrology, aren't saturn and the sun representing the masculine?

8. Yes all good points.
Human sexuality is complicated, so to explain it simplistically with one planet placement most likely will not tell the whole story.

And yes it is important to look at the whole chart. And get a feel for the masculine and female energy. Yes sun, sat, mars more male energy.

9. The chart as a whole
Looking at the chart as a whole does seem like the way to go.
I was thinking of a particular chart that had saturn in the tenth house, and was probably in gemini, since the person has virgo rising. Anyway, there was no way that his career could've been described by saturn, unless maybe if he had some karmic lessons thru his career. But then it made more sense if saturn represented his father, who worked with bones, and it seemed more accurate looking at it from that perspective.
So, not that saturn would always represent the father, but it can.
And the moon often represents the mother, though not always.
Anyway, yes, I agree that there are many ways of looking at charts.
And Vedic astrol is a whole 'nuther ball of wax, they probably have minutae up the minutae.

10. 10h is a parental house
Edited on Wed Aug-16-06 08:52 PM by cassiepriam
Can indicate parent karma. Saturn there can indicate harsh parenting in past lives, most likely a parent who was overly intellectual and not emotional in past lives, may have been deserted in the past by parents.

Oh and I also wanted to add that someone incarnating with gender issues can also have other karmic issues, not related to sexual orientation. For example a friend of mine, a gay male, came back to this life to experience persecution and scapegoat karma. To experience metaphorically being burned at the stake for his values, for who he is. I admire his courage, he sure bit off a lot of karma in this life, all for his soul growth. He has faced so much pain but is dealing with all of it with courage and wisdom.

Yes Vedic astrology is so interesting but so darn exasperating. You would think since I am into karmic work it would all click with me. Not so.

I am doing some work with a couple of vedic astrologers from India and it is a challenge to say the least. I have studied some vedic astrology and found the work on the nodes to be helpful. But we are not even speaking the same astrological language in many ways. The words are the same but the meanings very different. They admit that I am quite accurate when reading charts but they have no idea how I do it. Their eyes glaze over when I try to explain western astrology. That is OK, my eyes glaze over when they try to explain the vedic system. :(

And their system is emotionally distressing to me. Harsh, fated, no free will. Scary. Just not the way the spirit world works.

And I admit that I do it differently from western astrologers too, so I am in no man's land. And I confess that most of the western astrology websites scare me too. If I read the daily horoscopes from the big sites I would never get out of bed! That is not the way it is supposed to be!

It is time for eastern and western astrology to evolve to the next level. Time to leave the middle ages behind and come into the next millennium. My .02

Edit for spelling

11. astrol/10th, vedic
The 10th house being parental- sure, that makes sense, esp. since it opposes the 4th house. of course, people incarnating with gender issues can have unrelated karmic issues. I mean, it would be a luxury to only have one issue to deal with. Most people have at least a few majors, and several minors. Though the gender issue thing is so exotic that it could override some of the other ones.
You are lucky to be able to work with Vedic astrologers. I agree that their "fated" interpretations are difficult to understand from a western perspective. But I generally just overlook most of that, and focus on the parts that I do connect with. The nodes are definitely interesting. I usually take in a miniscule part of all that is discussed- yet still get alot from it. The vedic predictions are especially powerful.
