So, I've still got that negative entity in my house. White sage
has helped like nothing else. I've smudged with it the last couple of days and the air in here is now so clear. Plus, my roommates, who are much, much more adversely affected by this...thing than I am have really calmed down over the weekend. They even seem happy today. Does anyone know why white sage would have had such a positive effect when nothing else I did to try to clean out this space has worked (some things have even made it worse)? For those concerned, yes, I'm still relocating, probably in September, (or by February at the absolute latest) but in case I ever wind up living in a place inhabited by such an unpleasant force again, I'd like to be able to use white sage to bannish it and it would help to know why it worked so effectively on this entity. Googling has actually sent me to a number of articles that claim white sage is actually somewhat less potent than other varieties and is best for situations in which you need to "gently cleanse" a space. Is that true?

1. Oh dear
You crack me up with your "why, why, why's."

Can't remember if it was you or someone else I told the story of an student of mine who was quite bright who joined me at an astro conference and I introduced him to a really knowledgable colleague and let them talk. Then I spoke with my colleague and said,"what did you think of him?" My colleague said, "he's still at the stage of learning where he is going, "does the hangnail go this way or that way?" when it's just a frigging hangnail. Get rid of it."

Excuse any redundancy.

I'm also reminded of the Elvis Costello line ". . .do I have to draw you a diagram. . .?"

White Sage worked. Celebrate and yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!

3. May I venture a strange hypothisis that just occured to me?
It is possible that this particualr energy has some relation to white sage. What I mean is; maybe a Native American one? That could be the only "energy" that it could understand; if that makes any sense. Just putting it out there..........

4. Actually...

for a long time I was sure that this was the explanation for what this negative energy "is." I live in the middle of the woods, on top of a big hill, in the Western Oregon Willamette Valley, which some here may know was the site of some of the worst genocide the indigenous peoples of the Americas suffered after colonization. The story of the way in which the Santiam and Yoncalla Indians were wiped out from this region is very, very sad. I've also found out that most of the land surrounding the hill on which this house was built was "probably" Yoncalla sacred space and yes, may have been used to bury deceased tribal members. You'd think the pro-environmental respect the builder of this house (an actual architect and engineer) took to construct this domicile, which is clearly built "with" the land, might have bought us some sympathy, but--well, you would be wrong of course. It's still a colonist's house on top of what may have been a burial ground.

However, over time, other things have happened that have convinced me that either a) Native American energy is not the only angry presence here, or b) I was wrong about it being a Native spirit (or spirits) to begin with. Let's just say, well, without going into melodramatic detail--protective primitive Christian talismans from approximately the 2nd century A.D. seriously freak it out, and it really doesn't like holy water. At all. So much that I've just stopped using holy water outside of my own room, because that makes it extremely...antsy. It has also made itself known through phantom burning smells, often garlic or onions, and the occasional funny mark or scratch on the wall. And it seems to irritate the ever-living-whatever out of my roommates, both of whom are (struggling) recovering alcoholics--as was, we're told, the architect who constructed this house.

Still, that's an excellent hypothesis, that sage "speaks" to something here because that something is--or was--an Indian. I just...there's another something that lives here that is really not a wonderful fourth (or fifth?) roommate. Someday, when the roommates aren't around, if I get time during the remainder of my time living here, I'd love to bring a medium in and see what he or she has to say. Researching the history of this house and property has only gotten me so far.

15. PS
thank you - you reminded me I intended to participate somehow in this project

Corbin Harney is a great man - he needed a ride to a gathering to make an important speach about nuclear - I contacted him and was going to offer a ride and get permission to film the event- but I did not hear back - I presume he got his ride - I also doubt he would be doing much computer or e-mail

wow-it's been a while..

odd synchronicity - right there :)

16. Hey, thanks. I will definitely check out that link.
And I have been the source of a lot of odd synchronicity for folks lately with no signs that this phenom is going to slow down anytime soon. So, glad I could help you out. :-)

12. Did you try burning sweetgrass?
It invites in the positive energies to replace the negative ones you drive off with the sage.

13. I am painfully allergic to sweetgrass.
But thanks for the suggestion. I have to get more Claritin tomorrow, so maybe I'll get some sweetgrass, too, suck it up, and try to get some positivity in here. I cleansed with sage again tonight and it's so much lighter again. As Stella would tell me to say, yay!
