What does it mean to dream about vampires?
I had the weirdest dream before I woke up. In the dream I was at first at my grandparents (mom's parents) house and singing for them. My grandfather was there sitting in his rocker like he always used to and listening to me sing. Than I was at some beach looking for a group who I used to hang out with in high school. I don't know why I was looking for them because I could sense they were getting away from me. Than I ended up being at this theatre that was very big and wide. Someone stud up and other people threw things at them (mostly garbage) and I saw this person was a vampire. I had a cell phone with me (different than mine in real life) and called this girl who was a friend in the dream and tried warning her but she didn't seem to care and I than realized she too was a vampire and ran out of the theatre and locked all the doors and window. I went to the projection room and told the woman about everything and she ended up being a vampire too. While I was busy trying to save myself and the other people I noticed she was about to attack me and than I woke up. Does anybody know what this means? I always have weird dreams so maybe that's all. A good while back all I dreamt about was vampires. I never was one I don't think.

1. sounds like vampires symbolize a danger
and perhaps your subconscious thinks you shouldn't trust people around you.

2. If I had this dream I would interpret it to be symbolic of
feeling very vulnerable, that people aren't what they seem, that they are out to get me.

And for me that would be a good interpretation.

I have had very similar dreams before.....

3. Dreaming of Vampires
Vampires, for most people, represent powerful and evil creatures. Dreaming about vampires suggests that the dreamer may be feeling overwhelmed in some areas of his or her life and is struggling with negative thoughts, feelings, and actions. You may be currently concerned about ethical or moral issues and are experiencing anxiety as a result. The vampire represents personal attributes or negative habits that drain energy and resources or cause emotional exhaustion. If a vampire is attacking you, you may perceive yourself as a powerless victim. Interpreting this dream's message may help you to identify the source of your negative feelings and helplessness.

4. I have dreams about vampires all the time.
For me, I've deciphered that they're a metaphor for conformity, (vampires...everywhere...creating more vampires...trying to turn me into something just like them...) which I find terrifying.

6. Good analogy!!

I read this and thought, "bingo!"

On edit: I had to come back to add more. I can apply this to the many shapes and names my own dream-monsters have taken on over the years. Funny how the answer can sometimes be so simple.

Of course conformity is terrifying, it means giving up choice and individuality***, succumbing to another's definition of reality and taking on values that aren't your own. I just never consciously thought of conformists as monsters before. This was an important realization for me.

Thanks, BlueIris.

***not to be confused with giving up ego, which many people from many religions believe is the way to enlightenment.

5. Thanks for all the replies
It does make sense. I haven't dreamt about a vampire in months so I thought it was strange.
