Tarot says the New Year will be a good one.
I did a New Years reading, asking how we and our country will be a year from now at the end of 2006. I used the Celtic Cross and the results look like things are going to change for the better.

The first card is what influence is present and it is Death reversed, indicating that although the present influence is one of change, right now it seems that nothing is happening.

The second card crosses the first and is the Knight of Cups, a young man or a messenger bringing good news.

The third card is what is beneath us. The Page of Cups indicating that beneath all that has happened in the past year, there was something new being born. I would actually like to think that it is a reference to the anti-war movement begun by Cindy Sheehan and those who are with her.

The fourth card is what is behind us, and how appropriate that it would be The Devil, a card that means the material over the spiritual, sensation devoid of understanding, violence, bondage and force. We have had plenty of that this past year.

The fifth card is that what crowns us or what will push us into the future. It is The Lovers, and considering that the majority of the cards in this spread are Cups whose meanings are love, happiness, beauty and the emotions, I believe the message is very strong here. The Cups are a very potent suite in this throw. The Lovers is pointing to a future much different than the recent past and that there is a struggle between the forces of the past and future and of making the past let go.

The sixth card of what lies before us is the eight of Cups, a card that indicates that we are leaving the past behind and entering a new and different future.

The seventh card is about our fears in the coming year and the Sun reversed shows that we are afraid to believe anything good could be coming.

The eighth card is about how others see us and is represented by the Seven of Wands, reversed. It’s the only Wands in the spread, the Wands representing, enterprise, energy and growth. The Seven of Wands show strife and reversed is indicative of embarrassment and indecision we will be facing because of the past war and other crimes our leaders have committed in our name.

The ninth card is what we want this year. The Ace of Cups says it all. We want and will receive abundance, love, joy and spirituality.

The tenth card is what will happen by this time next year. The Ten of Cups signifies happiness to come. All will end well.

The number of Major Arcana cards in this reading means that powerful forces are at work both on our plane of existence and those of the spirit plane. The lack of high court cards means very little of this will be accomplished through our leaders, but in spite of them.

This is the most hopeful reading I have had in a long time. Post your New Years predictions here as well. I think we are finally going to move past the dire dark winter we have been suffering through these past years. For the first time in a long time I am feeling hope.

:-)

1. Yes, very hopeful
Have you kept track of your tarot readings and how accurate they are?
I learned a spread that answered yes or no questions. My percentage was not very good so I stopped.
My Celtic Spread readings are less easy to assess in terms of accuracy.
Looks like we have a good 2006 to look forward to.

2. I hope so
I think so as well and you can sense it as well if you try. :) I hope and can't wait for 2006.

4. Yes, they are pretty close.
Some of my Bush readings haven't come to a fulfillment of the prophesy yet, but seem to be going in the direction the cards have indicated.

3. Huh. I'll be gosh darned.
That set of cards looks exactly like the kind I've been drawing for the past month when doing general "what's next" Celtic Crosses to gather insight. Nice.

5. In the past we who read the cards have had similar spreads
on the same subject matter. It's almost creepy.

6. I recall one significant difference
This spread does not refer to a woman like a Queen of Cups playing a role in the changes to come.

7. The Queen of Cups shows up when the question is
about Bush, for me anyway. This spread just asked about where we as a nation will be next year at this time.

10. Oh, DAMN. Thanks for reminding me. I see the Queen of Cups
Every. Freaking. Day. I'd been looking at her and asking, why is that there? I'm moving out of my "Queen of Cups" phase for the sake of my mental health. There are no other QofC influences in my life that I'm aware of right now. Or are there?
