dream or partial dream
Has anybody had any experiences where you feel as though you are awake, and you hear or see something that seems real but isn't.(?)
I had a weird thing happen a few days ago. I woke up at 2:30 am, and could hear someone leaving me a message on the answering machine. At first, I just heard some mumbling, but then it was definitely my father, and he was saying stuff like "where the hell are you," and "pick up the phone dammit" Then he started having some breathing trouble. So I got up and ran into the kitchen to check the answering machine, and it was set at zero. I was pretty sure I was awake, not dreaming. But what I heard was more like an audio hallucination. So I was just wondering if anybody has had an experience like that, or any ideas about it. thanks.

1. I am surprised no one has responded here
I think that you either had a intuitive flash about the future, may not be right now
but could be months away, make sure he has a phone with a handset he can keep with
him. Or you picked up on his own dream, worries or anxieties, he may have been worrying
about having a heart attack and you clued in on it. Sometimes, I have had a dream about a relative and they have had the same dream.

5. yes, thanks for your feedback
That could be what it was-some sort of intuitive flash. Maybe it was a part of me feeling worried, and maybe needing some validation. At that early hour, things are often in limbo, so it lends energy to experiences like this, and the ones described by PL, and Woodsprite. Of course, my father will, at some point, have failing health, and all that. Although, when I did actually talk to him about the dream or whatever it was, he kept saying that he was as healthy as an ox. But that his brother Marvin was having some serious lung problems, including trouble breathing. Anyway, thanks for giving your thoughts on the situation.

2. I never saw this original post before
I'm always having strange dreams that don't seem like dreams. A few weeks ago, I spoke with my dad who died in 1992. I was so excited to have the opportunity to speak with him again and it was so real. My mother had first handed me the phone and said, "I have a surprise for you." I took the phone and heard my dad's voice, crystal clear. Then he appeared before me and started giving me financial advice. After he left, I told my mom I was thrilled because I knew he was still dead, then I reminded her that she too was dead. It was actually funny. When I woke up, I was still excited to know that I connected with my parents the night before. I just knew we connected and it wasn't just a dream. I've seen my dad many times before in my dreams, but he was always muffled, unable to talk to me. I guess I've always been talking to my mom because that connection just seemed standard.

Many times, I open my eyes in the middle of the night and see things, people leaning over me or vines covering me. It used to scare me, but as I wake up, these visions disappear. I'm no expert in dreams, but part of me does think that we can reach to the other side while we're asleep. It's so mysterious and intriguing and I'm looking forward to the day what's really happening will become known to all of us.

3. I'm looking forward to it, too, PL.

And I don't think we're that far away from it.

4. I have had an experience that I question.
After remodeling and moving into my Aunt's house, both my mother and I heard our names called in the middle of the night. We met in the hallway. Neither one of us called that we knew of. Mom had heard "Marie" and I wouldn't have used that. We thought it might be my Aunt welcoming us to her house.

Something strange I've had happen had me questioning whether I was asleep or awake.
It was around 2am and I was woken up by a sizzling crackling sound (like static electricity). It was as though someone was moving this sound up my body. My arm felt tingly, but it wasn't the same kind of tingle that it gets when a body part "goes to sleep". It was like the hairs on my arm were standing up from static electricity. I was afraid to open my eyes, but the sound was getting louder. I forced myself to finally open my eyes. Nothing was there. I reached out to my husband. He was sound asleep.

I laid awake for 2 or more hours until I finally dozed off again. When I did, I had a really peaceful dream about my mother. It's the first time I have ever dreamed about her. She died 4 yrs ago. In my dream, I was laying in bed, got up to go downstairs to the mirror in the foyer. She appeared picture clear in the mirror walking out of a fog. She was smiling and seemed very happy. I asked her if she was happy and was with Dad, she nodded yes. I looked at her for what seemed like a long time. When I tried to communicate again, she faded away. In her place there was this music box spinning and floating in midair with a pink rose on top. Despite being awake half the nite, when I woke up after that, I felt totally at peace and rested. I was shaken by the whole experience for 3-4 days. It was just so real.
