How do you deal with gloom?
I'm not talking about your garden variety "negative energy" here, folks. There's this distinct "gloomy" feeling around me wherever I go, and it's not a good feeling. I've never experienced anything quite like it. It's really quite creepy and weird. Does anyone have any tips? I have my clear quartz, and my smoky quartz and my black kyanite. Not really doing much to assist me in dispelling the "gloom."

1. Is it physically gloomy as well?
Have you seen the sun recently, is what I mean.

Are you alone in a "world" of sad people?

Is it coming from you? When you wake up in the morning before you do anything how do you feel, before you have started thinking about anyone or anything.

If its them I would mentally gear up every time I had to be around others. One kind soul (in this forum) told me to ground myself by using imagery of a dragons tail, it really works for me. Also, rose quartz for love. Use obsidian for protection and grounding and transformation of negative energy in the environment. However be aware that it is known to bring up your own stuff in a very clear and blunt fashion.

Eat before you have to be around the gloom, take a walk in the sun and eat very fresh fruits and veggies. The ancients and enlightened often warned against eating meat that was always afraid and sad during life as it carries that energy in it's cells and is subtly passed on through eating it.

If its you, you will have to take better care of you and make sure you have fun, you might want to get a "happy" light to brighten up the darker, cooler months. A good friend who really loves you no matter what would be really great too. That kind of energy is so helpful to all of us. :hi:

2. Nothing has changed about my environment, exactly (same people),

except for the fact that the whether here has been behaving strangely. I honestly cannot remember a darker, colder, or gloomier October in Oregon. It's freaky. I don't like it. I thought I knew from gloom and for the most part I've always kind of liked it. Now? This kind? Just icky. I've got things like rose quartz, clear quartz, smoky quartz, etc. I've even purchased and have been using Bach's Mustard--made specifically for gloom descending on a person for no discernable reason. Not really helping. I am definitely re-smudging my house on Monday, as soon as I have a spare moment. That will have to be done again, ASAP, in the vain hope that it will assist me in alleviating this crap.

3. I moved from the Southwest to Ohio
The winter months seem to last from November to April. The first two years we did well. After that the "gloom" did set in. We bought a happy light and it is a life saver. We also smudge with nag champa and sage when we need a boost.

I hope that the sun shines soon I know that will help.

:)

St. John's Wort will help you get a good night's rest. If you use it more than a couple of days/row you'll be sensitive to sunlight.

Kava-kava tea won't dispel anxiety but will take the edge off of it and help you think objectively. The worst part of anxiety is being held subjective to it. I used that to get some relief during the week after 9/11, and to perform in a job I hated so much that it gave me stomach cramps.
