I wanna curse and scream and get this SHIFT OVER with!!
I Posting here because I fear that I am about to go ballistic in GD and just lose my fucking mind...

**Millions of unemployed people going hungry, homeless and worse over Christmas
**tax cuts for the rich are okay though
**legislators arguing about the deficit when we are in 2 LOSING WARS
**threatening to shut the govt down, what kind of games are we playing?

...and our fearless leader still not fighting for US, i see no fire in his belly,
that's NOT the man who was campaigning out there to give us HOPE & CHANGE - WTF!!!???
I am fuming, I am depressed, I am at the end of my literal and proverbial rope.

this is the stuff that MAKES me WISH for complete and total DOWNFALL and CRUMBLING of it ALL

The damn Powers That BE are too fat and happy and entrenched. I wanna fucking SEE it all come crashing down around their heads...all the fucking money in the world won't make a BIT of difference when the assholes are struggling for survival like the rest of us. In fact, those of us who HAVE been scrambling and hustling for the past decade MIGHT just have an advantage because we KNOW how to do things that these fuckers don't...

But i am just so incensed, i am full of rage and dissapointment today.

I am going out to pound the pavement and grovel for a job at the retail center today, haven;t worked retail since college, i hope they will still consider me 'qualified'...I have to do *something* because the alternative is just crying myself into oblivion ...

My kids' school has a stupid Christmas Shop for the kids to buy little gifts for family for 50 cents up to 10 dollars...lots of folks think nothing of throwing a $20 at their kids to spend... i have to scramble for even $5... I even wrote to the PTA and asked them to consider those of us who are struggling, maybe the kids can volunteer and earn some help in getting the things they want...but there needs to be alternatives to this MONEY system...

I have more value than this!!! and I am LIVID that the bastards in power are so disconnected from reality to understand

fuck these fuckers all the way to the poor house, let them see how it feels to wonder how you will feed your family when the food stamps run out a week before the end of the month!!!! :nuke:

2. Don't know where you live or
what your qualifications or skills are, but if there's a hospital or two in your area check with them for a job. The turnover in hospitals is pretty incredible. Well, at least the one I work in has a lot of turnover. I took a job in out-patient registration. It's not bad, almost pays adequately (we're talking simply a decent amount above minimum wage) but the benefits are surprisingly good. Check it out.

13. Our hospital hires people for a position called a "PSR"
they sit with confused patients or patients that are deemed to be a danger to themselves such as suicide attempts. They make I think about $10/hr. This time of year brings a high number of the confused elderly (family drop offs) and very depressed people who attempt suicide.

You might check to see if the hospitals around you do this.

Those school Christmas shops are dreck. Get your kids together and make cookies and crafts, watch a movie and eat popcorn. They will enjoy that more.

My biggest objection to them is that they are training the kids in being consumers and to expect that Christmas is a capitalistic activity.

4. Would an e-hug help?
It won't do anything to help fix the state of the world, but maybe it will help you feel a bit less rage-y. ^_^;

*hugs*

7. It's pretty amazing what the American public is allowing

i can't believe we're still hearing "tax cuts create jobs" as they threaten to slash what little we have. TV and radio personalities must get paid a tidy sum to repeat the tax cuts crap.

They've had those tax cuts for years but we're all considered too stupid to notice? Do the rest of you feel as insulted as me that they dare keep pushing the wealthiest people's tax cuts as any hope or solution?

I'm supposed to feel sorry for the affluent and the corrupt? Sure. I'll get right on that.

On another topic: creating an income stream. Are you at all artistic? I'm thinking maybe you could create boutique-y scarves or hats for visiting skiers? Maybe the kids could help. These ideas are easier said than done, I realize, but I'm trying to spend some time every day thinking up my own business plan.

Start a new economy with me? And you with yours?

Your anger is justified, and change will come.

8. Did you see my invitation re: brainstorming about co-ops?

If not and you're interested, just PM me. I don't want to bore everyone to death again.

But I'm passionate about the idea of starting co-ops (the UK is way ahead of us with this), enabling us to band together and get our visions and dreams "out there" and create this change we all desire.

When people are joined together with common intent and are invested in the same entity, it just makes sense to me that there is more of a chance of success. This has always been one of my underlying dreams with Wishadoo (I even see Wishadoo as a co-op, with people investing and benefiting).

Worker co-ops, marketing co-ops, producer/consumer co-ops, professional co-ops. Many options. It's much more than farming/produce co-ops.

:hi:

9. Venting is good, and I would think venting in GD about this would be great!

;)

Many feel as you do, rightfully so. In fact, anyone who DOESN'T want change is...well, I don't know what they are (other than the wealthiest people on the planet), but they're few and very far between.

This guy speaks for me right now: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/bob-cesca/why-exactly-is-president_b_790819.html

I'm in a super rush but wanted to jump in and give you hugs of support!!!

10. I want this shift over with too
At this point, I'm too tired to get angry.

I'm tired of fighting the bastards. I want to live independent of them. Like OGR, I want to create co-ops and other things that are outside the mainstream economy. To me, this would be the ultimate FUCK YOU to the bastards who take us for granted and treat us like shit.

11. Thank you for expressing what I too feel
I live just a 45-minute Metro ride from downtown DC.

I've been out of work for 2 years and 2 months. (fortunately my husband still has a job but because he works for a federal contractor his pay will likely be frozen for two years).

It makes me sick to hear about the growing demand for food donations, and the lack of space in homeless shelters, while President O-Bummer gives in on letting the filthy rich keep their precious tax cuts.

My right foot absolutely ITCHES to go down to the White House and Capitol to kick politicians' asses.

But why bother? I'd only end up in the slammer for the rest of my life.

12. so the next day dawns and i have no place for tears
life goes on and the chores must be done and the work I do is valuable...

today i am creating a logo and gift certificate for a friend in hawaii so she can book and sell these asap
i *am* creative and good at what I know how to do...and just doing something for a friend feels better than sitting here whining i have no "job"
see, the whole barter thing...i told her to just send me a giftcard for kmart and we'll call it even...

anyway, just wanted to check in here and let you guys know how much i appreciate you being a sounding board for those days when i have to rant

and blessed support for me to get up again and keep walking the Path after the tears are dried...

that is the essence of this shift, one day of struggle, then flow comes... i guess we are lucky to have chosen this incarnation, but sometimes it sure feels like swimming UPSTREAM!

Edited on Fri Dec-03-10 09:10 AM by liberalmuse
you are not alone in feeling the way you do. I spoke with my coworker about this just the other day - we're both losing sleep. I can't stand it. First we saw the people of New Orleans suffer - that was the first time in my lifetime I'd ever seen America, or rather, our government turn its back on its citizens. Now there are millions who have no means of support because our "esteemed representatives" would rather give yet more money to the obscenely wealthy. Watching what has happened since Reagan has been very disillusioning, but it started to escalate under Bush II. I never in my wildest dreams thought the country I loved would become this cold-hearted Idiocracy we see today.
