8. Wonderful idea and I'm so happy to help a fellow ASAH-er

I know donations to Red Cross and other organizations are good things but can I say that I'd really rather do things like this where I know how it's going to help directly. It makes my heart happy.

Also, I need to say something - and acknowledging that I must be sorta sensitive about it because my mom did this - here goes:

Please, PLEASE don't denigrate your gift - whether it's $1.00 or $100 - it's from the heart and that is the very best thing you can give.

My mom always used to give me a gift and say "I'm sorry it couldn't be more." and it always made me feel sad when really, I was happy that she thought of me with the gift. So it was a weird happy tinged with her sadness.

Offer whatever is within your means to do so and be proud that you can do that. (Even if your heart is sad that you can't do more right now, know that what you can do *is enough*.)

You are enough, just as you are. :)

Since I don't have permission to post about this fundraiser at DU, maybe another way of doing it in GD and other sub-forums is to include this link in the signature line, maybe with a lead-in of "Help a DUer out" or something like that...if you don't already have a link in your signature, that is?
