The original was set to be full-screen, but it can be a problem sometimes. Hopefully this one will work for you. :) (It just involved removing the _popup from the link, in case it works for you and you ever hit anything like this again.)

:hi:

5. Thanks!
Seemed like it should have been something simple! :)

I am impressed with some of what he's saying - like the pollution is not in our air, per se, it is in our soul. But I'm curious - do we really think we need to be "taught how to love"? I thought love was our natural condition. Perhaps I just need to spend some time with that question, but it really took me aback when I heard it.

6. I think that it is by example that many children learn to go beyond...
Edited on Mon Aug-23-10 07:02 AM by I Have A Dream
their own small worldview. I do think that many people need to be taught to go outside of their ego self and to learn to empathize. I think that our soul's natural state is love, but I think that once we incarnate, we often lose that frame of reference.

I'll use my own life as an example of what I mean. I grew up quite poor by American standards. We often lost our home, and when we had a home, we would lose our electricity periodically, etc. We were always one paycheck away from disaster. However, my mother never went by the Salvation Army person ringing the bell without putting something in it. It may have been a nickel, but she always gave. She never preached to us about it; we just saw what she did. One time, I asked about it, and she said that there's always someone worse off than you are, and that the Salvation Army helped her family when she was growing up, so she wanted to help the next family who had even less than what she currently had.

The way she lived her life (that is just one instance of her teaching us through example) helped our immature minds to grow into mature minds that were able to look at the world outside of our own little sphere. I personally think that many children do need that type of example. I don't think that lectures without action by the parent usually work though.

However, I think that there are cases where this isn't required. I do think that it's rare though. I don't think that most children are naturally nice or able to see the other's point of view without certain things being explained to them or shown to them. (Thus the bullying and mean-spiritedness that happens far too often among children.)

What are your thoughts about this, Delphinus? Anybody else? :)

7. Your early life
sounds similar to mine. I am in total agreement with how your Mom would give - those are my sentiments exactly. Actions have always spoken louder than words - I think that will continue to be the case.

I'm glad you brought children into this, as I was not looking at it from a child's perspective. It has been so long since I've been a child and my son now is early 30s so it's out of my initial line of sight. It is good to be reminded of this perspective, as it will help me be more compassionate to those who might struggle with this issue of loving others, including themselves.

I am so grateful for your sharing!

8. I'm sorry that your early life was difficult, my friend.
I hope that you're able to take the gifts from that difficult time. I have often said (and each of my siblings individually have said to me) that they wouldn't change anything about our financial situation or our upbringing because we became much stronger because of it. However, if we had had to go through that without our amazing mother, I don't think that any of us would feel that way.

That being said, we are all very happy to have some financial security at this point in our lives.

Thank you for sharing also, Delphinus.

15. What an amazing Life Coach to have guiding one on their journey ;=}
Giving of oneself is the lesson we all should practice on a daily level.

It isn't always easy to do, it takes extreme courage to open up to strangers. At least it does for me, but I'm getting better.

SMILE at everyone you meet. That one is EASY! And I've always been able to practice whenever I go out in public.

Open a door for an elderly person, or they don't even have to be old. Just let others go first, what's the big hurry. Offer to help drive someone somewhere. There are so many things one can do to help make other peoples lives better.

I still find myself struggling to visit my neighbor who was taken away by the authorities and placed in a old folks home. This was the same place my maternal grandfather was in and I was forced to visit him as a teenager. When I say forced I mean forced, my grandfather didn't spend much time with me as a kid, so we were never close and he probably didn't even know my name when he did visit us. Well he certainly didn't know either one of us at the nursing home. He was frail, skin and bones, and wailing in pain. I couldn't take it. It was too painful to be a witness too. I vowed never to return. Yet, I found myself being pulled back after Millie was taken there. The place is an awful place. And I know she doesn't deserve to be there, and the courts are holding her against her will. I just have a hard time bringing myself to visit her there. However, I will try harder to make an effort to do so.

Also FORGIVENESS, is a valuable lesson for everyone to practice. You don't even have to make a personal apology, just make the effort to challenge yourself to forgive others and also to forgive Yourself. Pretty easy really.

Thank you for sharing.

I really like what you say about forgiveness. Forgiveness is such a wonderful thing. :)
