Music question for a project

Here's an odd question. ;)

I'm in search of fairly unknown musicians creating music that would be in keeping with the whole "vibe" of Voudou....drums would play heavily in the music. Something with heavy drums and a slight bluesy twist, with a modern flair. Even something with a native or shamanic vibe as well.

If anything comes to mind, please do share! :)

3. I know a voodoo drum rythym
Tik tiktikboomboom
tik tiktikboomboom

Imagine a very large ,blind women making her way down the street. The tik is here cane feeling out the path, the booms her footsteps. Its a rythym that starts slow then builds up speed then slows, then builds up again.
Another African drum song is Linjin. Its is a song played to appease the trickster god

I'll see if I can dig up a recording of them and send them to you.

7. Niiiiiiiiice...............

Elegba/Legba...I believe is the trickster god of whom you speak...often has a cane. In fact, there is a passage in the most recent draft of the sequel referring to the "tap, tap, tap" of his cane.

Very, very cool. Please do share if you find it!!!

4. Peep peep
Of all things, yesterday I spent about half an hour at YouTube watching voodoo videos from Haiti, because there was a radio show on BBC when I woke up about some guy who went deep into the jungles of Haiti to record rituals and the music I could hear in the background was very compelling. I wasn't able to find anything quite like it though. So then I moved on to African videos, and bookmarked my search page.

This one's pretty cool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLpapYYnukE&feature=PlayList&p=B35AF0A3F630D371&index=6&playnext=2&playnext_from=PL

Here's a nice peace song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVMP3ZCPQo4&feature=related

I know what you're looking for though, and I've not yet found anything like your guy. I'll keep looking.

AND, last night I had a dream in which I talked to a baby who could talk like a grownup. Then I see kimmerspixelated's post here. I think I'm about to have a very psychic day. :)

6. dude......

Something powerful is happening. This project has evolved to MUCH more than a book, or series of books. I had a huge "AHA" moment about the overall name of the project.

I sense your psychic energy today and join you. ;)

The thing that is so interesting is that I've resisted this energy. This is the perfect place to share this tidbit, so I'll do so. :)

In working on the first book, which involved researching the origins of Voudou (so many spellings, all indicating a variation of the belief system as part of the African Diaspora), many "magickal" things happened. It totally wigged me out, to be honest. I essentially lived what occurred to the main character as I/we wrote her storyline. When I'd write something, THEN it would happen. Unfortunately, most of the events were tragic. :(

As it is time to focus on this project again as far as marketing and PR, decidedly psychic things have been happening. The empath thing has been taken to a new level over the last few days. I didn't realize what was happening at first. I'd be driving and get a distinctive "feel" as I drove past homes. Yesterday, I allowed it, rather than resisted, and as I would drive I would get very distinct vibes and images as I focused on homes. It had nothing to do with the home itself as far as look or price range, but I would get a sense of "loneliness" or "excitement" or "love/warmth" and so forth, with accompanying images. I think this is just the beginning of some sort of opening.

One which unnerves me a bit, but I'm going to just breathe and flow and allow.....and bless all.

Oh, that's another thing, and I wonder if it triggered it?

Oh lordie, this is turning into quite the ramble....lolol.

For years I've automatically sent out the prayer "Ahimsa Blessings" as I drive, trying to envision all creatures staying out of the path of the vehicle to avoid harm.

I consciously expanded that prayer/vision to include humans a few days ago...lol. Trying to radiate blessings....pure blessings....as I drive...for the highest of all concerned.

This psychic "opening" has coincided with that, as well as this project.

You've given me lots of fun stuff to check out!!! Thanks for being on the same wavelength!!!

And thanks to all who ended up reading through this chaotic ramble. ;)

11. I've been getting into Baaba Maal
for a while now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d22Hvh-odGY - this song just makes me feel great. More at http://www.baabamaal.tv/home.html where you can hear my other favorite Tindo.

Blick Bassy is pretty jazzy, though from the Cameroons, almost Brazilian samba in a lot of his music. You'll hear it a lot in

http://www.npr.org/search/index.php?searchinput=raz%2C+music%2C+africa

Of course, for the more ethnic, a man who my parents had tons of albums - King Sunny Ade. Here he is in concert Seattle in July - nothing really bluesy. Can't beat his talking drums and If you listen hard, you're sure to pick up the names of some orishas: Obatala, Oluwa, et cetera.

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=106178245&ps=rs and click on the King Sunny Ade: The Chairman In Concert link

Got to come back to Earth, can't stop dancing this morning  Thanks for the vibes!

 There was a song my dad (a man's song) used to sing in praise of the you know what. Use to drive her crazy. Considered a blessing - carry a kid on the back, freed up your hands to do other things.

I remember a belly dancing class I took once a upon a time, I was kind of self-conscious because a lot of the girls were soooo slim. my teacher took us to a Middle Eastern club a and made sure to point out that the most popular dancers were the girls with good flesh on their bones. The audience went crazy when the bigger women shook it :wow:

on edit: forgot something
