Oy, another thyroid-specific question....

We really need a wiki of all these thyroid and other wisdom-filled threads. :)

Here's my specific question today:

Is anyone taking Raw Thyroid (by Natural Sources) AND T3?

Thanks.

:)

1. I'm using Natural sources Raw Thyroid
Edited on Wed Nov-18-09 07:21 PM by juno jones
But not taking T3.

I was using The Enzymatic Thereapy brand of Thyroid supplement for awhile and then went to the NS Raw Thyroid. I might start the ET supplement back up tho because I'm starting to get cracked heels again-something that I'd had for years which healed quickly and completely within a few weeks of starting the supplementation.

2. Not related to Thyroid tho I do get a lot from these threads...
But just had to say I love your pic of the Baron... one of my fav movies. Favorite line: He won't get far on hot air and fantasy! That's almost become our family motto. :hi:

4. How many people have been killed in your logical little war?
Open the Gates!

I love that movie. My (then) 3-year old son turned me on to it. We watched it one night, me and my husband fell asleep halfway thru, but my child stayed up and watched the whole thing. Then he asked to see it the next day and the next. He watched Baron Munchausen like some kids watch Little Mermaid. I've probably seen most of the movie close to a thousand times and I am not exaggerating (just like the baron :) )

It bears repeated watching. The depth of symbolism and Gilliam's reliance on classical art for the settings and atmosphere are stunning. It is essentially a plea for intuition, compassion- all the feminine sensibilities and energies (the repeated symbolism of the moon and water) and a rejection of aggressive left-brain masculine logic (ie, the Jonathan Pryce character, Vulcan and his ICBMs etc).

Amazing film. Thanks for responding. Sounds like you have a great family there! :hi:

5. Did you know that it's part of a triptyche
that includes Time Bandits and Brazil? We have watched these so many times and have had great conversations about what it all means and how they relate to each other. We think the ongoing theme is fantasy and how it can be interpreted and approached in life... Innocence of Fantasy (Time Bandits), Perversion of Fantasy (Brazil) and the Transcendence of Fantasy (Baron Von Munchausen).... Some may say we have been thinking too much about these movies and need to get out more. :)

3. I'm not sure what raw thyroid is that you are taking.
I take Armour Thyroid.

Look up Dr. Kent Holtorf and read his website about reverse T3 cancelling T3, leptin resistance and so forth.

6. one more comment.
I think it might be a good idea to take extra T3 (Cytomel) if the regular amounts of T3 are indeed canceled by being turned into a stereo-isomer (mirror image molecule).

7. Great article
I plan on asking my holistic doc about his work the next time I see her. I cannot, CANNOT lose weight no matter what I do, and I'm interested in what she thinks of leptin supplementation for metabolism.

8. I'm wondering what a therapeutic dose would be for extra T3.
And he also talks about HCG and Growth Hormone.

9. Finding T3 is proving to be quite the challenge....

Cytomel, by prescription, is readily available (5 mcg is the dose I commonly see prescribed), but I'm having a hard time finding an non-prescription alternative.

The one online vitamin store I've used before doesn't carry specifically T3, Whole Foods doesn't carry it, and I don't recognize the other places via a Google search.

Thanks. If anyone knows of a reliable source for T3, please share. :)

10. Here is more information re: thyroid extracts:

I've been confused about raw glandulars and how they differ from prescription thyroid meds.

"The difference between prescription thyroid extract and the thyroid extracts sold as nutritional supplements is the latter are required by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to be free of the known active thyroid hormones (thyroxine and triiodothyronine)."

Thyroxine is T4 and triiodothyronine is T3.

Cytomel is expensive. There may not be a non-prescription alternative.
