Okay, truth time. In your life with Spirit, do you feel you've "received" more of what you want, or
or more of what you need?

This question is inspired by lildreamer316's thread from a couple of weeks back, which discussed whether Spirit gives us only what we need, or allows for us to get what we want as well.

I've been thinking a lot about this, and I'm starting to think that in my own life, the gifts I've been given solely through Universal and/or Divine providence (certain opportunities, certain friendships, certain, ahem, websites) have been things I am going to need for my survival. The other "gifts" (ie; stuff I've manifested or otherwise attained for myself) have been primarily the result of my own efforts.

1. I've been given everything I've ever really wanted.
Since I suffer from alcoholism and bipolarity, this has been very, very bad (and still requires rectification).

Responsibility is to receive what you want and to deal with it as it is, to adjust for the negative as a lesson regarding "why am I creating this". Surrender allows God to provide what God wants for you, which is vastly superior to self-will and self-determination.

2. Have to go with need
The one instance I can think of, getting something I WANTED.....turned out to be not so great....but was definitely what I NEEDED.

3. Yikes... i may not want to say this out loud
but i have had my needs met, but barely. I have a great relationship with Spirit...but my life has been more of a struggle this time around and if it wasn;t for welfare, i wouldn;t have food or a roof over our heads...

so yes, i can make some things manifest in my life, but it is usually short lived and unstable.
i think i may just be in 'one of those' lifetimes where things are mostly about 'paying back' or settling karma, because it sems like things happen really fast and BIG and great and end relatively the same way...crash & burn...

yuk, doesn;t sound very nice, guess i get to work on abundance issues too, eh?

I KNOW how to co-create...and I know how to recieve all that i need... i can choose to work with my own creator light and blend it with creator to shine it on events and people so that i can see the best way forward ..

4. Great question.
On balance, it works equally whether I've asked or not or through my own efforts. The two, for me, can't be separated. The problem is working with Spirit as a partner by being open enough to hear her and also being clear and realistic enough to understand what I want. You're right, Divine Providence has provided so I've never lacked things for survival, nor have the many wonderful things that have happened, happened because I consciously wished for them. On the other hand, many times things that I do want manifest out of the blue so quickly that it makes my head spin and I have to adjust  Just last week I really decided to talk to my supervisor about changing my work schedule - I was really not liking it, when he emailed me and offered a better one. I really enjoy the work, never expressed my dislike of the schedule to him nor has he ever even seen me because I work from home.

I'm sure of one thing, things that I've wanted and couldn't attain always meant going back to be being quiet and communing with Spirit. Meaning more self-analysis and clarity about the desire. Then it seems I'm given a real choice about whether I want it or not, and if it's really worth the energy to pursue.

I guess for me is it is the constant remembering of staying aligned with Spirit as much of the day as possible, because it's really a two-way street for needs and wants.

6. Because I don't seem to get what I want
but I'm not starving or homeless (at least not yet), Spirit must be giving me what I need, not what I want.
I think I'm supposed to learn that I've been wanting the wrong things. It's tough to make the realignments.

7. I don't know how to answer,
so let Edgar Cayce give his.

Edgar CayceQ-2. What financial remuneration can I look forward to in the next five years?

A-2. Sufficient to meet the needs, and to store that necessary for the development further. For, as ye use that today in hand as constructive forces in thy experience, whether it be of spiritual, the mental or the material (for they build as one), then more is added. 1120-1

8. I have experienced so much that now I have come to count on the miracles/magic....
as it is a daily thing.
I usually get what I want...I ALWAYS get what I need.
Usually though I have noticed that Spirit takes me right down to the wire sometimes before things happen and it doesnt always turn out like I think it should..but it always turns out. :)

9. I can pray to the Universe for potatoes
But I'd better buy a hoe. That gets me through the day. The Universe will provide me what I need, if I have some faith and try to do the right things in front of me. I can choose to reject any gift I like, or go after poison that I perceive as a gift (but probably am ignoring the internal spiritual signs that it is not what I need).

Free will comes into play with all this. Often I think I could have "more" and should have, but then I have to examine my reasons for wanting more and often they are not exactly spiritual, LOL! I have done this with jobs. I wanted a better job title a few years ago so I would be perceived as "higher class". I got it, and was fully capable of the job, but could not work with my boss at all and was miserable every day. I bailed out of that good title for a job that put me back as technically "low class and uneducated" (considering how people think, animal mind, LOL) however this job offered me around $5 grand a year more pay! But I wasn't told what they were willing to pay me until I went through 2 interviews and was their choice. I managed to trust the Universe for a change and it WORKED, fancy that.

10. Interesting question! Tough to answer!
After a while, it gets confusing as to whether what I receive is what I want or what I need, or if they're the same thing.

One exception: I certainly WANT a brazillion dollars to solve my seemingly endless money woes, but it hasn't turned up yet. Of course, we all know that we don't get the sudden gift of beaucoup bux because it's not part of our life plan or would ruin our character or whatever other reasonable type of malarkey. I suppose I can accept that. ;)
