1. Can an oak tree be a totem?
Edited on Tue Nov-10-09 10:10 AM by Sanity Claws
CE,
I hope you don't mind this basic question. Yesterday I had an oak leaf fall right into my hands. Falling leaves are not uncommon at this time of year but it fell right into my hands! It really felt special. Is this a sign from a totem or is it just a happy coincidence?

2. Absolutely. Many consider trees and plant life as totems....

Here is a good Celtic wisdom page about this subject. :)

4. Serves me right! I googled squirrel totem and it's completely appropriate for me
Especially the last part is absolutely true of me.

The gathering power of Squirrel is a great gift.
It teaches us balance within the circle of gathering and giving out.
They remind us that in our quest for our goals,
it is vital to make time for play and socializing.

Squirrel teaches us to conserve our energy for times of need.
If your totem is Squirrel or Squirrel has recently entered your life,
lighten your load of things that are unnecessary –
things that you have gathered in the past and may be cluttering your life – thoughts, worries, and stresses.

Squirrel is also the totem of action.
Ask yourself are you too active, not active enough, afraid of enough,
hung up on accumulating and collecting.
Squirrel people tend to be a little erratic – trying to do many things at once.
Take the time to stop and listen to your inner self – and don’t forget to play!

5. Is that happening to you, too? Thank goodness. I've gotten
coyote, (totally random daytime sighting of one, too, very unusual) spider, (two in my car, found while driving no less) hawk and raccoon.

6. Well, if you want some kittens.......
I have them coming out my ears! Apparently there is a colony of feral cats in the woods around my house. I now have 9 cats/kittens that have taken up residence w/me. One I raised from a kitten of about 3 wks I found in the yard 2 yrs ago. Then last summer "the mother cat" brought 2 of her kittens here when they got old enough to fend for themselves. She actually showed them my cat's food bowl! She has since had 2 more litters. Can't get my hands on her or her newer kittens. I've had my 2 females spayed, but worry about those that I can't catch. If I can get them, I'll have them spayed, too (even though it will cost me a fortune!)

BTW, they are all yeller tabby cats, except one...a brindle tabby.

Anyone know what yeller kitties as a totem means?

7. All my life Spirit has brought me one yellow ginger kitty after another....
So I have been blessed to always have a ginger cat companion.
The majority of them were magical cats and would share consciousness.
Mr. Wizard only shared consciousness when he wanted his dinner bowl filled. :P
I think it is a blessing to have ginger cats but since a ginger cat is also one of my Totem/spirit helpers..I might be prejudiced in that area ;)

14. They apparently are my totem, too, since I seem to be collecting so many!
My entire life cats have been my companions. I know I share a special bond with the species. Always before it was black cats, now its yellers. I've always felt it stems from a past life in Egypt when cats were venerated. I do love them, but enough already! :P

8. I've found a new wealth
of information from Avia Venefica's websites! She accepts friends at Facebook, in case you're interested in that.

11. I am out in the boonies
but the local critters usually stay away from the house due to the dogs. Its not unusual to have visits but these guys seemed to have set up camp here.Whats really unusual is that the dogs are allowing some of the ground critters to stay while chasing off others of the same species. The birds seem to be taking turns keeping a CAP over the house, also.

13. If a brown tabby shows up, let me know!
my semi-feral has disappeared, haven't seen her in 3 days, very strange, very unerving.

I will take your totems as positive though. maybe that animals are survivors and wise beyond our realm.
