Advice from dreams?
*Vain OP*

My hair has gotten longer than I've worn it in a VERY long time. I usually wear a short bob. Just haven't been around to getting it cut. I wear it in a pony tail most of the time because it bugs me. It doesn't feel comfortable. Nevertheless, I've been debating whether or not to let it grow out some more or go back to my short style. Big Decision, right? It looks okay.

So last night I dreamed I was engaged to a really hot man! *woot* I asked him what he thought about my hair. He told me I should leave it long. He said it was part of my excitement and flare! (Told you he was hot.)

So, is this a higher wisdom? Guidance? This isn't earth shattering and I apologize for my vanity. Not going to change, but I'm sorry. It grows fast so even if I get it cut, there will be a second chance.

Thanks to anyone who cares to comment on this most monumental issue

2. Osiyo Why :)
As I wear my hair long..I would have to go with the wear it long look :P but that is just my own preference.
I think a woman's hair is her crowning glory and when it is long..you can do so many things with it, including putting it up where it looks short if you so desire.
However it is more work to care for it.
As to dreams...yes you can get answers in your dreams. You can also be lead astray due to your own desires and thoughts.
So therefor I usually don't pay much attention to dreams unless they are particularly vivid or a vision dream (yes you will know the difference if you haven't already experienced a vision dream as there is absolutely NO way to mistake it for a regular or even Lucid Dream).
I personally believe we should always follow our own feelings first and formost and trust our own instincts.....so you will have to look within for the right answer to this question. :) Good luck whatever you chose and may the love you seek find you. :)

3. LOL.This is a question I obsess about!
I have been wearing my hair long, in a pony tail or clip, for years, mostly because I am too cheap and lazy to get it stylishly cut on a regular basis. But it IS a lot of trouble to care for and I'm getting sick of it. And I think it would be more attractive short, if I kept up the cut. My boys - son and husband - both protest that they do not want me to cut it.

(I actually did get it cut short several years ago. Came away believing that the stylist secretly hated me because it was SO terribly short. I did not go back for another haircut for a year!)

Today inertia reigns and my hair's still long. Thankfully, when the dark roots grow in they are not yet grey.

Ah, vanity, thy name is woman. Isn't there a quote along those lines?

5. LOL!
I'm not sure what vanity's name is! But we certainly understand, don't we? I remember tons of years ago when I got a perm. But. Even though I have some natural wave, my hair doesn't perm right. Parts of it just stay straight. What a freak show. I remember I could not sleep until I had written a lengthy entry in my journal about just how I was going to go about getting it remedied. The stylist was ticked, but she cut it or something. And I've never had another perm!

I do have grey/white. I get compliments on the color any ways. If I put some color on it, it will at least have more body and maybe not bug me so much. But then if I continue to let it grow, the color will be evident whereas when I get regular cuts it isn't. :gagagaga:

Inertia. That's at least a temporary solution!

4. Ahhhh, Hair
I wore my hair long all my life until I finally got fed up and had my hubby cut it off while we were vacationing. I really loved it long, started braiding it on the sides (2 strands) and pulling them back into a single braid. This was back in 98. But my hair is rather thin and extremely flat although it does have some wave to it.

I have been wearing it short since then. I like the messy short doo. My only problem now is my stylist I go to insists on cut it toward my face, which I do NOT like. I take pics of the cut I want and she cuts it according to the pic, so now I'm trying to find a pic that doesn't have it cut toward my face.

I also found a good hair product that IS the best product I have found Beyond the Zone "Demented" which is exclusive to Sally's.

Here's a link to short hair cuts that I had been researching.

Short Funky Hair

I like the 3rd one down. Of course it's cut toward the face, but I still like the style.

And like you said even if you decide to cut it, it will always grow back.

6. What MagickMuffin said.
Except for the hubby cutting it off part, but mine said get rid of it, if it's bugging you. So I did because it really did! I also go to the short hairstyles sites as well. Love'em!
But I do feel sexier with longer hair. Maybe the hot guy (you, I think) is really offering guidance about how you want to magnify or explore deeper personal confidence - including sexiness or variety :) Try it, you might like it again.

9. Funny..but
I am always the first to say all dream characters are ourself, but had not even thought about it in this instance (other than an inner voice). I WANT THE HOT GUY! ;) Now, I've need to think about that angle. Thanks. (Where do I go to try it again? j/k)

10. I LOVE the third one down!
Edited on Thu Nov-05-09 06:48 PM by Why Syzygy
That is pretty close to the length I usually have it cut. I don't like it toward my face either. Those just above the shoulder lengths are cute too, but I don't think that's a good length for my ## year old jaw line  It is a couple of inches below my shoulders right now. Thanks for posting those links! I may need to take Cleita's advice and try a few not so short layers. Maybe I should look through some books and talk to my stylist. I latched onto him about 10 years ago, and except for the four years I was in Austin, he has cut my hair since. So he knows it.

How brave you are to let your husband cut.

13. My layers tend to grow out fairly quick
I've been through so many stylist, and finally found one just a few blocks from home. She is from Thailand and she does a good job, with the exception of cutting it toward my face.

I love lots of texture as this seems to help with the style I want to achieve and of course the Demented helps with the funky part.

My hubby only gave me a straight chop, then I went to the hairdresser to add the style and texture.

7. I've done both the short bob and the pony tail.
I noticed as I got older the pony tail pulled on my hair and caused it to become thinner. (Or maybe it was a progression of age, but I blame it on the ponytail.) If you want it longer though, maybe a nice layered cut would give you the best of both.

8. That's the sensible solution.
But more than one stylist has told me I should never layer my hair. It isn't thin, but it is fine. And with the waves, it tends to stick out in odd places. PLUS a layered cut takes about 4x as long to grow out even to a bob length. I have considered that option though. The pony tail isn't the most comfortable of styles either. My favorite thing about it being long is running my hands through it. It feels nice. What did you do?

11. My hair has reasonably good body, however, like you I never liked the
hair in my face so that's why I tied it back. Right now I have it short so I can blow it dry and that's that. I had a friend in high school, whose hair was so fine, it didn't hold a curl or a style. She always looked like an unmade bed, but it wasn't her fault. It was just the texture of her hair. Since she had what they called dishwater blond hair, she decided to blond it after we graduated. The chemicals from the stripper gave her just enough body to take care of that problem. Maybe a body perm would help you too.

12. If you read
one of my posts above, my hair does not take perms. A color will give it more body. I've got one on hand. Maybe I'll try that first. Can always get it cut later. Mine has enough body to just blow and go. It just falls in my face when I'm doing anything. I may try a few layers...

14. I forgot to add that when I'm
analyzing my dreams, I almost always remember how I was feeling in it, no matter the circumstances. It's very helpful when I can't figure out unusual events or can't fully remember, to know what feelings I may be suppressing or need addressing.

15. It's up to you !
How do you feel about it? As for me, as an older woman, I've been told that long hair ages you more, but I haven't cut my hair since my 50th High School reunion 2 years ago! I've been growing it purposefully for "locks of love". Now it's so easy to just put it in a barret or pony tail, but it does nothing for my face and build (fat) I think I'll get it cut as soon as I can afford it! It's also harder to color it when it's long!!! Some men, like my late husband, LOVE long hair, but like I told him "you don't have to take care of it"!!! I always wore it in the style most attractive to ME.

16. I did Locks of Love once, too
Maybe I should try that again.

I love this hair thread, actually.

My son got the best of the hair genes from both sides of his family. He has awesome, thick hair that has body but dries straight (not wavy like mine). And it is, as my stylist says, a color that many women pay a lot of money to get, very slightly reddish light brown. His friends, their mothers, his teachers, even total strangers will comment on his beautiful hair. His sports team this year, in mock awards, gave him "best hair."

I keep telling him when he's older he will have to grow it way long and cut it off for Locks of Love. He remembers when I did it.

:hippie:

18. If you want the psychological take on your dream, which I don't think applies,
hair usually represents your thoughts, and long hair represents "long" thoughts, that is, deep thoughts as opposed to your workaday thinking, just quick thoughts.

If you've begun some meditation or are thinking about beginning it or something of that sort (which from the sounds of what you have been saying and the other posts are saying doesn't sound likely), the dream cd be telling you that this is a very good psychological trait to have, that is, having "deep" thoughts. It adds to the energy of your etheric body maybe.

BTW was your hair in the dream the same as it is in reality? Are you a blonde or brunette?

19. Interesting.
I haven't taken up formal meditation. I have been practicing intuition. But, more appropriately, possibly, I have been thinking about not thinking SO MUCH! I've always been told I'm 'serious' and 'think too much'. It seems like someone on the big board inferred that I don't have deep thoughts (or I'm a nit wit - you know how they are), and actually it is quite the opposite. But, I am getting really tired of thinking all the time! Trying to figure things out. I've been considering just living in the material for a while. Maybe that was the meaning then?

I was a brunette, now a dark blond/w/white on top and sides. Brown eyes. When I color, I choose a medium blond.

Hair was the same in the dream because I wanted to cut it. I've decided to, btw! I've got enough to deal with without being bugged by my hair all the time.

Always appreciate your dream input, Steve!

20. Sounds like your dream might be reassuring you about you efforts to develop and use intuition.
BTW dreams can serve more than one purpose at the same time. Your dream cd be reflecting a real but sort of superficial issue in your life but also have a deeper sense or meaning for you.

22. Maybe you got rid of a lot of psychological crap that day.
Or you hope to in the future.

But it depends on where you got rid of it. If you did it in an inappropriate place, maybe you should find better ways to vent, i.e. pick your spots better or your company or try to hold back at times when you might want mightily to vent.

I've had a lot of these dreams, and I felt that's what they meant to me. For you it might be something else.

24. Well, this may not be true
but in my African culture, and I don't know why, poop dreams mean money - pure gain in currency. When I told my husband this years ago, he was like the next time you or I have one, we're off to the casino. It works for us because we do hit but the damn dreams are unfortunately few and far apart x(

Here are some other crazy things. Right hand itches - gain, not necessarily money. Left hand itches - loss of some kind, nothing really detrimental like death or something. Right sole itches - going somewhere you haven't been in a while or going somewhere unexpected. Left sole itches - leave ASAP wherever you are. Right eye twitching - good luck or seeing something or someone you haven't seen in a long time. Left eye twitches - watch out, bad omen.

My brother, when we were kids, asked our mom when she was telling us this, what happens when my left butt itches?

So when we hit the casino after a poop dream, I pay attention to twitches and itches. I know, it's crazy but I don't leave with less than what I walked in with.

so keep it long. Long doesn't equal raggedy or plain, you can still have it cut stylishly.

 I had decided to cut it back to short. But I just made the appointment for 11/12 and I'm only going to get it shaped around my face, leaving it long for now. It is in really good condition since it hasn't had coloring for a year. I'll see how it goes. Thanks for your opinion!
