"Where's Deano?
For all the Democratic fretting that he'd be too high profile, former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean has steered clear of the spotlight since being elected Democratic National Committee chair in February. Dean has done just one interview with a national news outlet as DNC chair--a five-minute quickie with the Associated Press--and won't sit down with the national press for at least a few more weeks. Why the silent treatment? Because Dean is talking exclusively to local media in places where he's making appearances, as he did last week in Tennessee. "We're getting our message out," says a DNC source, "from the grass roots up."

I love this. Deano? LOL

1. "...talking exclusively to local media"
He isn't "steering clear" of media, he's being selectively focused. It all reminds me of Jon Stewart's assessment of Crossfire: You're HURTING America. I'm very pleased that Howard has been negotiating around the cable media train wreck! -and it's driving them batty ROFL

"Has Gov. Dean hurt your feelings? Perhaps the reason that the new DNC chair hasn't granted many interviews to national, corporate-controlled media is that he's noticed your growing failure to actually report the news. The more I compare the corporate media to independent media and international news sources, the more astonished and disturbed I am at the widening gap in the coverage. We have come to the point where, watching the corporate media cover issues such as the war in Iraq, I am led to ask, 'if we had government-sponsored propoganda in this country, how would it be any different?' I trust Gov. Dean to choose his own strategies and plan his own schedule more than I trust your magazine or any other corporate-controlled U.S. "news" outlet."
