HSUS holds "Super Shelter Story" Contest!

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is gearing up for this year’s National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, with a special contest that could make your precious pet a comic star!
Through July 8–29, 2005 the Humane Society of the United States will be holding a "Shelter Story" contest. In anticipation of the event this year, members of the public and shelter employees and volunteers alike are invited to submit their favorite shelter stories to the “Super Shelter Stories” contest. Winners will be announced and stories will be featured during National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week.
Patrick McDonnell, award-winning creator of Mutts®, will select the top entry and feature the story in his comic strip during National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, and the grand prize winner will receive an autographed, framed original of the strip from Patrick McDonnell and Muttscomics.com, plus a pair of round-trip tickets from Southwest Airlines; a Basic Level Banfield Optimum Wellness Plan® from Banfield, The Pet Hospital®; and other great prizes! Six runners-up will receive prizes from Muttscomics.com®. All contestants will receive pet food discount coupons for Hills Science Diet®.
Every November, National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week celebrates animal care and control agencies and highlights the truly amazing contributions made to the animals and people in communities.
