Do your pets try to make you feel guilty?
Last night I worked late, so I didn't get home till about 8:30. So when I got home the cats really missed me and Pad Thai's play time was shortened and he didn't get outside yesterday. So he woke me at 3:30 for a few rounds of toss the sparkly ball. I went back to sleep. Later, this morning he was following me around, as I was up and getting ready for work. And I accidently stepped on his paw. He gave a MROOOOEEEEEEWWWWWW! and when he was sure I was looking lifted the paw up like he wasn't able to walk on it.

I picked him up to see how it was and of course was worried. He immediately starting purring. I touched the paw. No flinching, still purring. So I gave it a kiss and put him down. Seconds later he had bounded up on my shoulder on his "damaged" paw.

The little faker!

1. When we brought our son home from the hospital...
Lucy, our terrier/warthog mix, sulked on the couch in the back room for 3 days. Normally, she's the welcome committee for the house. The little porker wouldn't even take a treat from us.

When a visitor went through "her" room on the way to the bathroom, she would perk up and act like they were the best friend she'd ever had. When they'd try to coax her to come off the couch, she gave them a look like they'd beaten her...

She learned to share her beloved daddy with the interloper pretty quickly, though...

2. When we got home from a weekend trip last Sunday
Tucker made his displeasure know by very loud yowling that went on for a hour. It only stopped when he went outside and started up again when he came back in.

He also tries the guilt trick to get fed. "Look at me, I'm a poor starving 15 pound kitty! I'm just skin and bones!"

Strangely, he never tries guilt if he accidentally gets stepped on or when we aren't paying him the attention he thinks he deserves. He tends toward revenge. LOL! If I accidentally step on him, he will bite my ankle or my calf. Of course then I pick him up and apologize profusely and he'll give me a little nip to let me know I'm not being apologetic enough!
