The Divine Ms. Haskell (aka, our border collie)
We have a Border Collie and a German Shepherd Dog. The BC is a former street dog/rescue and, while the sweetest dog imaginable to her people, can be very protective of her humans and even less tolerant of other dogs. The GSD is the exception to that rule. Younger, the GSD is her "baby" and the BC protects her, too. But the BC's also bossy as hell. She has a way of goading the poor GSD into bad behavior and then, when we happen on the scene, acting innocent and sweet.

This isn't an occasional happening, with us projecting human traits onto a dog. It happens repeatedly. On rainy days its the worst because they get cabin fever.

Just yesterday, a rainy, foul day, we heard a loud thud/crash from the living room. Sparkly and I both headed there from different parts of the house. Big, the GSD, is standing next to a big candle in a metal holder that is lying akimbo on the floor. Big is looking sheepish and guilty. Meanwhile, Little, the BC, was seen racing to her pillow in the den. She had telltale GSD spit on her coat, always the result of her goading Big into a play fight.

The candle was but the last victim.

We've come to calling her The Divine Ms. Haskell ....... Eddie Haskell in a dog suit.

1. Another "priceless" example
"Big" was accused of going through the kitchen trash and making a mess of it (which she does), until "Little" -- again, looking innocent on her bed -- was busted from a price sticker attached to her fur.

(We also call her "Velcro" because she comes inside with all kinds of sticks and foliage stuck to her fur.)

2. Sounds a lot like my house
We have an ACD and a Catahoula Leopard. The ACD is about 30 lbs lighter and faster. When something happens he (Murphy) bolts upstairs onto his blanket. It's hard to tell who did what though, because Murphy is really skittish. They are almost 7 years old now and not as crazy as when they were puppies.

5. Isn't it funny how they exhibit so many traits common in little kids ...... like 2 year olds?
Our commonality with other animals is so often evident.
