Cats...they'll do the darndest things....
Weather's been letting up a bit...it's well above freezing, snow's melting off and the boys-
(Riktor, Wimsey, and Finnegan) can GO OUTSIDE TO PLAY! :bounce: :woohoo:

(Esme prefers to just 'read the paper' and wait until it's much drier and warmer before she ventures out, thank you...she's 10 years old and no fool.)

Good thing too...the boys were getting pretty squirrelly...picking on each other, peeing inappropriately....

Didn't feel like playing "Wrong Side Of The Door" for three cats last night, so I just turned off the furnace and opened the window...the one that Riktor's punched the screen out of so many times that I've just given up and allowed them to use as entrance/exit.

So...I'm working in the back room, the boys are doing their 'thing'...
and I come into the livingroom to find the little monsters darlings having a feast of Lapin Tartare.
:wow:
One of them (probably Riktor) had caught and killed a rabbit...DRAGGED IT IN THROUGH THE WINDOW...and the boys were calmly proceeding with their late-night, wild game supper.
Riktor is between 9-10 lbs...and the rabbit looked to be about half his size. Riktor had had to jump UP about 3 feet to the window carrying this thing. Mighty hunter, indeed...

I know cats are predators. They are (very efficient!) obligate carnivores, designed to run on rodents, birds, and other small critters made of meat who supply them with protein...
but the House Rule of chez badgerpup is "What happens Outside, stays Outside." They aren't allowed to bring their 'toys' into the house; if they do, I'll take them away.

So I donned rubber gloves, took the carcass outside, pitched it into a somewhat distant flowerbed (don't want it decomposing anywhere the window :puke: ) and told the boys what mighty hunters they were and how impressed I was at their prowess...but they'd have to finish their snack OUTSIDE.

Riktor's behavior later was...interesting.
He was very affectionate, purry, and exhibiting 'attention/affection-demanding seeking behavior' like he did when he was a kitten (but he's too cool now to do so).
Wonder what's going through his furry little mind...:hide:

1. ROFL!
I hate when they play Wild Kingdom on the living room floor. With mine it's just mice caught in the house, but even so it's gross.

I don't suppose you have photos of this event...?

2. "Play Wild Kingdom"
:spray:
Nope...no camera. Not sure I would have thought to take a pic even if I had, to be honest...was thinking "Oh hell...gotta deal with this. Now I'm really going to have to shampoo the rug." :grr:

3. Your adventure is sort of a mini-version of "Dogs in Elk". Have you ever read
about that?

Here is a link to what may be the most passed around post ever...
This is a post validating the veracity, and at the end is a link to the original group of posts.
Don't be eating or drinking while reading it. You will ruin your keyboard.
