Philly area DUers: Xena will be ready for adoption 4/9
Xena, one of Ruby's kittens, will be ready for her new home Wednesday, when she'll be 6 weeks old. If anyone wants her, either PM me or e-mail me at meow2u3@yahoo.com for my phone and address. I definitely cannot keep her. Either she gets a new home or else she'll have to be surrendered at the shelter, where her fate is uncertain.

This was Xena when she was 3 weeks old.

2. I hope that you can take her to a no kill shelter instead of
the usual sort if no one takes her. Six weeks is pretty young to be adopted out.Professional cat breeders will never let a kitten leave until it's at least three months old, so staying with mom for a little while longer will likely be good for her.

3. If you haven't already...
you should cross-post this to the Pennsylvania forum (and other nearby states as well).

Best wishes to Xena. And please take her to a no-kill shelter or a rescue group if it does come down to that.

4. Will you be spaying Ruby soon?
I hope so. A kitten's fate shouldn't be "uncertain". Xena is absolutely precious - please make sure she finds a good home.

5. Ruby will be spayed next month, God willing
Two days ago, I went to get Ruby her shots. She got her rabies and 3-in-1, both prerequisites for spaying. She'll have to go back in 3 weeks to get her 3-in-1 (distemper) booster, then she'll get her appointment to get spayed. Max will get his shots next month, and when he has his shots, he'll be neutered.

Bad news: Elsie won't be going to her new home; I can't contact the guy who said he'll take her for his daughter. It looks like Elsie and Xena may either have to go together or I'll have to sell them either to a local pet shop or surrender them for adoption at the shelter.

6. I understand
that there might be financial constriants as far as keeping the cats, but please consider keeping the cat and kittens until you can find a suitable and stable home for them. Surrendering them to a kill shelter or selling them to a pet store leaves their future very uncertain and full of potential danger. Please keep us posted as to what happens to these precious kitties.

7. Xena could be getting a home tomorrow!
I responded to a "kitten wanted" ad in Freecycle and another one in Craigslist, where I hooked up Onyx with her new, loving home. The Craigslist lady responded positively and wants to see Xena. I still have Elsie, who was supposed to go with a friend of a friend, but that fell through. Elsie is also available.

8. Bummer! Xena's rehoming fell through
The people who were to take her came to my house to see her, then told me they'd be there the next day. They never even showed up--no call, no nothing! Really classy people! :sarcasm: I still have Xena--and Elsie, who also was supposed to go to a new home--and they both have to go before they turn 9 weeks old because my landlord will allow me only to have a total of 2 cats (Max and Ruby).

9. I'm sorry you're having a tough time...
finding a home for those cuties. Have you tried cross posting in the Pennsylvania forum? There may be another PA area DUer that may be interested or know someone that is interested in acquiring a kitten. I hope you can find a home for them before long.

13. I don't have any new pics, sadly
That's because I don't own a camera. But I will be getting updated pix of Max, my little boy grandkitty--and, of course, Ruby.
