This time it's for real.
The adoption fee has been paid and we'll pick up our new girl next Saturday. Her name is Odile, she's 4 years old and I believe she's going to be a handfull.

Previous owners are divorcing. Wife is moving back in with her parents in a condo that doesn't allow dogs. Husband wants to go off with his new girlfriend and couldn't care less about the dog.

The wife evidently had met a couch potato Bouvier and got Odile as a puppy, thinking they all acted like that. (I had a good laugh when I heard that) When the dog proved to be very active, she was banished to the back yard. Cared for but never trained. So she has no manners, does not know how to walk on a leash but she IS housebroken (according to the foster family)

The boys are couch potatoes. I'm hoping that some of Odile's energy will rub off on them and that they'll help teach her some manners.

Pictures aren't available at this time but will be when we get her home. Hopefully there'll be a few that will be less blurred.

1. Congratulations!
Have you figured out what your limit is yet? We're pretty sure our limit is five! ;)

Whenever we've adopted younger dogs, our older dogs have become more active, sometimes playing and sometimes just trying to get away from the youngsters. :)

Have fun and good luck! :hi:

3. Yeah! I think Bouviers look very impressive in groups -
I have no idea why, but the breed is a fascinating mixture of regal and silly and they are more interesting in groups, to me.

Post pics as soon as possible!

7. The camera's charged
the mattress and dog blankets are in the back of the van (the crate's going, too, but we've found that just tethering in the back (no seats) usually works better. We've got the equivalent of 2 pockets full of treats and bought her a fluffy squeaky lamb to take with us.

It's going to be nice to have a dog who likes toys for a change. Dottie stopped playing with toys when she caught a bird as it was flying (jumped up and grabbed it). It died and she was just horrified when it wouldn't get up and play with her. She never played with a toy again.

Jake and Elwood just don't want anything to do with toys of any kind.

I'm told Odile loves toys and balls and likes to play and that will be nice.

Only about 12 hours until we leave to go get her. (About a 4 hour ride) I hope I can sleep tonight. I hate trying to sleep in the car.

8. Wow, I can't wait to see the pics
I like teathering in the back too, but I have lost a few leashes to doing that to fosters. One time I reached in and grabbed a fosters leash to get him out of the car...and got just the leash with no dog attached. He had chewed right through it on the way. Luckily he didn't even realize it and I was able to grab him. That dog is now an accelerant sniffer now and he made his first bust a while ago. I had another dog go into a bomb sniffing program. I pushed for that one, he was a little young for it (he was 9 months and they usually like to wait until they are 1), but he definitely needed a job to do. He ended up being the star of his class.

I hope that Jake and Elwood like her.

9. I'm sure they will.
Since Dottie died they've been missing a 3rd voice for their sing alongs.
