Could y'all do me a small favor?
I made an online adoption form for the shelter's website, based on a template from another site's form. We are testing it to make sure it works with various platforms, and one person is getting an error. Could you please take a couple moments to fill it out and send it in? You can use all fake info, but at least put a character in each field so we can make sure all the info is showing up.

Muchas Gracias!:-)

4. I'll do it if you want more people to try
I have Windows XP, using MSN Internet Explorer. I know I've tried using online forms and other things (interactive keys to insects, plants, etc.) and Internet Explorer worked but MSN IE didn't.

I'm "test tester". (Yeah, I do this for a living too and have run out of creative names for testing purposes. :) )

Your form looks good. What platform is the user who is getting the errors using? If you want/need any brainstorming, let me know.

So far, the only ones with errors seem to be Apple/Mac with a Safari browser. But if anyone else has systems that are not as common, please feel free to go ahead and test it for me.

Thanks again:-)

25. I got an error message to go back
I think what you need to do is to identify the required fields. You have many fields here for renters and owners and some people won't fill out all of them. You need to determine and mark (usually with an * which fields are required. If necessary fill out one form and redirect to renters or owners, etc. This will help you build the form with better logic and not irritate people in the process. Your web developer should than validate these fields through Javascript or something.

Not sure what you're using, hope this helps. But clearly define any fields that are required (i.e. your app will blow up if they aren't filled in). Then you need to alert and bring the person back to the page where the error occured so they can correct it.

26. I tried required fields at first....
but the validation script wasn't working right, and that's something I know nothing about (a friend had helped me with that part). So we took out the required part and just left it all as optional. The actual web developer is someone who doesn't know much about web development at all... she just put it together using Dreamweaver. I know a moderate amount of HTML, but hadn't used it in a while, so I am freshening up on it since volunteering to do the updates to the page.

Since we are a non-profit, getting people to help for free sometimes isn't easy. A lady was going to do the form for us in exchange for services, but when I spoke to her, I found that she knew no more than me, and she intended to use Bravenet(I think that was it?), a freebie company, but all their scripts (that I know of) included putting cheesy ads on your forms and pages. So I told Wydell I'd give it a shot myself first, and see how it goes.

I basically used another group's form as a template and edited it to make the fields appropriate and to clean up the alignment of the fields.

I do have a web developer friend who may be able to either help me with the issues you pointed out or show me how to do it, but she's away on family business right now. Thanks for the input. I will share it with her and see if we can improve it.

Thanks! :pals:
