What do I do with a cat who opens closet doors?
Boots has taken to opening the door to my closet. The door has a knob but no latch to keep the door shut. Boots simply pulls the door open.

I wanted to cat proof the closet door because it has a cold draft. HELP!

1. That's funny
But if it is a serious problem, maybe you tape the door shut with duct tape. Cats may be clever but they're not that strong.

3. Time to get a very heavy paperweight.
I have some granite sculptures(I think they're granit) that I use as a giant paperweight. One is of a beautiful dragon.

The ugliest paperweight idea I've heard of is pouring concrete into a plastic milk bottle.

Most non-sliding closets, open out so that should work for you.

4. Give in.
That's what we had to do. Just put a fluffy bed on the closet floor to stop the draft and let Boots camp out in there.

5. That's not half as bad...
...as a cat who opens bathroom doors...generally when one of their humans is "using the facilities," and someone else is in the adjoining room. :eyes:

6. He does that, too
He has to come into the bathroom while I'm using it so he can jump into the tub and play with the contents in there.

9. Your problem is a very familiar one in my house...
One of my cats, Sylvester, is referred to as our "Reverse Houdini." We have had to child proof most of the kitchen cabinets and the ones in the bathroom because of his constant habit of opening doors and climbing in to the cabinets. One day last week, I caught him opening the door to the lazy susan in the kitchen (one he has never opened before) and starting to climb in to the cabinet. Child proof locks (ours are magnetized) will do the trick. Its a problem that can drive you nuts, but a little planning and many child proof locks have stopped our boy in his tracks over the years.

10. My cat once climbed into the FRIDGE!
Needless to say, I was tempted to close the door with him in it. Instead, I got out my camera and tried to take a pic, but he jumped out of the fridge before I got a chance to photograph the evidence.

Our nilla is an escape artist when getting out of the townhouse, but constantly gets stuck in everything in the house. Ie his arm got stuck in the hole of the kitty litter box - the one we poor into the kitty litter tray for them to use. He was on top and put it in and got stuck at the elbo. My mom had to get him out. He's been stuck in lots of things.
