Our cat tries to stop our new kitten (photo) from using the litter box,
why is she doing that, and what can we do to stop it?

Meet Mimi, (the older one) and Kiska (the kitten)

<>

They get along very well, although there was some expected hissing and growling at first.

We have two separate litter boxes, both in the bathroom. Mimi has been dominating both litter boxes. She tries to prevent Kiska from using either, and after Kiska goes, Mimi goes in right away I assume, to cover up the scent with her own.

advice?

1. Yikes!
I was going to suggest getting another box until I read that you already have two. Maybe you could move one to another location. That way, it will be harder for Mimi to dominate them both at the same time.

2. Cute pics!
I agree with the previous poster. I would move one of the litter boxes. Perhaps Mimi thinks any litter box in that room is her territory.
