I need a tip to fix a small bug, left over from a Hard Drive crash I think
I'm currently using Windows XP Home Edition SP2. I have and Ati 9600XT All-in-Wonder AGP video tuner/capture card with Ati MMC v.9.09

I un-installed MMC v.9.13, because it had so many bugs.

Everything works fairly well, except when I capture video, except I think the video is being saved to 2 identical files on the same hard drive.

When I do a file search, the search results show one file saved to "My Documents" and another to C:\Documents and Settings\Computer Name\My Documents, but if I just open the "My Documents" folder on the desktop, it shows a *.vcr file and a *.cc file with the same name.

Is this normal, or am I actually saving two copies of the same file? I never noticed this in earlier versions of the Ati MMC.

Is this just some odd bit of programming by Ati, or is this something I can check or change in my system settings?

1. Same sized files?

Up front, I despise MMC and have not used it in a long time, so I'm basically guessing here. Every time they update the thing, it has new bugs. The last stable one I used was over a year ago (version 8.xx), and I inadvertently "updraded" it and cannot find the original version I was using now. As a result, I have problems with video/audio sync. And, the audio was always buggy anyway. I just use Pinnacle Studio now and have fewer issues.

Anyway, based on the file extensions, I'm thinking you have a video file and a closed captioning file. The latter should be smaller than the former, if that is the case, unless ATI does something weird with it and gives you two video files, one with closed captioning, the other without, but I don't see why they would do that.

2. closed captioning file...Hummm, that could be it...
...and yes it is smaller.

BTW, version 9.09 was pretty good, then I made the mistake trying to upgrade to v9.13. Still waiting for the next version that will fix the problems v9.13 caused.

Thanks.

3. Those are the same folder
The "My Documents" folder is just a "virtual" link to the real folder.

As for the two files with different extensions, that is probably normal too.
