Audio recording question.
Is there any way to record what is coming out of your... My computer speakers as a file on the same computer?

Programs? Hardware?
XP Pro and all that.

The Sound Recorder only goes for 60 seconds, so that out.

1. I asked that question a week or two ago
Somebody turned me on to Audacity.

Man, that was too simple. (No pun intended) Thank you. Just what I was looking for.

I saved as a .wav file and used Music Match to save it as a mp3. 28+ meg down to a little over 5 megs.
I need to figure out the Audacity plugin to export the file directly to mp3.

3. I can export to mp3
Guess I must have downloaded the plugin. You should try it, it takes about 30 secs. per song.

I'm capturing some streams from LaunchCast and recording old audio cassettes. I've been recording the whole thing and afterwards I select each song and save it as a separate mp3. Otherwise I can just record the whole thing as one "song," which means you can't skip songs during playback.

4. I found it.
I couldn't find the plug-in the first time I looked.
This is one neat program. And it works. Not a lot of bells and whistles to try to be everything for everybody. Just what is needed for recording and editing audio.
Thanks
