I need help on my Firefox browser;
I have 3 browsers on my computer. I use Firefox as much as possible. My problem lies in the fact that for some reason Firefox will not call up the Smilies and HTML lookup tables. I am sure that it did not too recently. I run v. 1.5. I can on the other 2 browsers, but they have other issues and like Firefon. I recently did some work on regedit but nothing else seems to be wrong. I erased the browser and reinstalled Firefox but it did not help. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

1. Go to Tools -> Options
Click on the Web Features icon on the left. If the checkbox "Block popup windows" is checked, click on the "Allowed sites" button and add www.democraticunderground.com to the exclusion list. This allows DU to popup windows.

If you're running the NoScript add-on, allow democraticunderground.com to run scripts.

2. I did that but no go;
I must be using a different version of Firefox as there was no web icon. What i did was under the content tab there is a 'block pop up windows'. It was checked and I included www.democraticunderground.com but with my typing this, the smilies lookup table does nothing. Thank you for your post. What I do is open IE, go to DU and open the smilies lookup table and keep it open and manually type in the smilie.

3. Javascript?

The smilies and HTML lookup tables require javascript to be enabled and configured to allow it to raise and lower windows.

In 1.5, this is under the Content tab in your preferences. Click the Advanced button after ensuring javascript is enabled to see that "raise and lower windows" is checked.

If that doesn't do it, I suspect you have an extension or some other app blocking javascript.

4. A workaround:
Here is a direct link to the Smilies table:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=emotion_table'

I think you'll have to actually type in the keyboard shortcuts, rather than clicking on the smilie to get it into your post, but that's not any big deal, really.

And here is the link to the HTML Reference Lookup Table:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=html_table

You can bookmark these links, and/or put them in the Bookmarks Toolbar folder. If you do it the latter way they will always be one click away (or actually two, as you will probably want to open up a new tab to open the page).

Hope this works for you; it does for me.
