1. I'm a Tech for a bank and we use "Nod32"
Edited on Sun Dec-18-05 06:37 PM by BlueJazz
It's 40 bucks for the home version....It's the Highest rated by IT Pros and it doesn't "F*ck with you" like Norton and the others.
It just works wonderfully..and quietly...

From their Website..and it's true>>>

Protection and Scanning Speed

Advanced detection methods provide protection against the future threats from most of the new worms and viruses. NOD32 Anti virus features an unprecedented detection track record, the fastest scanning rates per detection and extremely low utilization of system resources. Independent tests show NOD32 has a 2-50 times faster hard disk scanning rate than other (and much more popular), anti virus solutions.

Our Research

Our research shows that NOD32 Advanced Heuristics provides protection in many cases even before other anti virus solutions get updates distributed, which can take from hours to days depending on the solution. This is a critical advantage that NOD32 has in today’s fast changing world of threats.

NOD32 – An Established Solution
NOD32 was founded in 1992. It is available in 80 countries and 15 languages and includes Anti Virus solutions for both HOME and BUSINESS users. It has more 100% awards from Virus Bulletin than any other manufacturer in the world.

2. Other - AVG Free
I got tired of paying Norton $20 per year for the same functionality.

4. AVG here too. Ex Norton user and not looking back.
I've also switched to the Firefox browser and since then SpyBot and Ad-Aware have a very easy job.

Get AVG here: http://www.grisoft.com/doc/289/lng/us/tpl/tpl01

3. McAfee looks for trojans and ADWARE that Norton doesn't see
Norton is supposedly just now adding that ability to its engine. I have the new version and will be evaluating it over the next couple weeks to see if it actually works. In the meantime I will still recommend McAfee to all my clients.

6. Symantec just bought sygate. Great...
The same dipshit who drive OS/2 into the ground, who later became CEO of Symantec, will turn your firewall into molten piddle.

I gave up on symantec the day a virus leaked through their joke of an antivirus program...

9. Panda Plantinum kicks ass
as a longtime PC builder and technician, and Norton user, I had always used Norton. Recently heard a recommendation for Panda antivirus and we're in the process of switching our entire corporate system over to it. Not only does it find viruses, but also spyware, phishing, and spam. Plus it's updated at least once a day.

I couldn't be happier with it.

11. I tried ZoneAlarm
And I hated it. It didn't let me do anything. I was unable to post my website, I was unable to play chess on pogo, I was unable to post messages on this photography message board where I post.

And even when I did set it up where it was suppose to bypass these issues, it still didn't work.
