Building a home computer to be used as a home recording studio
Can anyone give me hints as to what I would need to go high end on...

Also give me an idea of what all I would need (I know I need a large hard drive...for example.)

1. Audio recording?

And, are you building this from the ground up?

I could offer advice on specific things like hard drives, processors, and the like, but for a full-blown recording studio type deal, I don't know the details.

Here's a rather lengthy guide I found that might help get you started.

5. I didn't look into the forums to see what gear they recommend
for low latency recording.

6. Well, your first decision I would think is to
decide what home studio software you intend to use, and make sure it run on the platform you intend to build (OS X, *NIX, Windows, AMD vs INTEL, 32 vs 64 bit).

7. I agree
I'm running ProTools and it's pretty funky about the type of set-up you have to have. Each software may have different requirements and usually you can find a forum devoted to a particular software and the specs needed for it.
