My entire inbox got deleted, Comcast. Anyone else have a similar
problem? The only things that I have done is download CCleaner and ran that browser test below!

I have a call into Comcast but won't know til tomorrow if they did something. I am so Po'ed, I went to pay my mortgage and the friggin Cowboys scored 2 tds and won the game as I searched for the web address to pay my bill (I was planning on clicking on the generated bill in my inbox!).

The Comcast guy told me about a new threat, (Ransom- ware). Apparently they download a program that requires you to enter a password to get onto your computer, (you don't know the password, so you are required to pay $200.00 to get it). I think he said the people were caught but, wow, is it worth having a computer, or just letting the library worry about security?

1. I don't think
that CCleaner or the browser test had anything to do with your Comcast account. Your mail account is kept on a server separate from your computer.
None of your eMail is kept on your hard drive.

You should try a different email account like Gmail (google mail) you will never lose mail in fact it's not easy to delete unless you go through a bunch of steps and also I have never got any spam.
My Comcast account is always full of junk mail.
I am sure there will always be new threats like "ransom-ware" but the best thing for any computer user to do is kept themselves educated.

2. Thanks, I have not followed up with Comcast yet, but the tech
guy said exactly what you said about the server. My problem is that I have electronically generated bills and pay using the e mail notification. The weird thing is my neighbor didn't lose anything and we I would assume are on the same server (that might be a bad assumption).

I am planning on selling in the near future and my treat to myself will be an Apple and I intend to do the Firefox, Mozilla etc. investigation. I right now, am health challenged and trying to get the place ready to show, so I don't have the energy to learn a new operating system etc..

You are a great source of info. and I appreciate your advice and recommendations. I was on with Comcast tech last night (morning) and they were not aware of any technical issues. I just posted to see if this had happened to anyone else out there. If it had, I would have felt more comfortable that it wasn't just me.

It is weird, because I get a lot of spam and just report as spam.
My inbox, is always fairly empty, I hate cluttered inboxes.
