Mac users? My eMac monitor is behaving badly.
We have a first-genereation eMac (purchased from our campus computer store). It's been fine since we bought it in 2002, until now.

The computer monitor is now waving, flickering, and changing shape, both vertically and horizontally. Sometimes it's fine, most of the time it starts to do its bad thing either right on startup or within minutes of startup. At first, we could still use the computer despite the monitor problems, but now the problem has progressed into the computer shutting itself down.

On the advice of a fellow Mac lover and smartguy I work with, I attempted to do an OSX system reinstall on Friday, but the computer shut itself down mid-install. I haven't turned it on since.

We're broke. The cheapest fix solution is the best.

Is this a problem we can fix? Are we busted and bound to buy a new computer?

1. You might have to bite the bullet
and take it to a pro.

It could be the video card.
