Pic... almost ...wait ...wait ....wait...
What the heck? Last couple of days, whenever I try to view a picture, it opens all fuzzed. Some pics resolve in a few seconds, most take several minutes.

Yes, I'm still stuck on dialup. I'd gotten used to pictures loading from the top down, many not loading past the top quarter. But this stuff is new.

Any ideas? Please??

And, as always, great thanks!

1. That's the doing of the person who created/posted the image
It's about images in .jpeg/.jpg format.

When someone creates a .jpeg image they can save it to display in one of two ways: Standard or Progressive. Standard .jpegs download/render line by line. Progressive .jpegs load all-at-once but in low quality, initially and then "get clearer".

2. what blogslut says is true
(And I kind of hate to call someone "blogslut.")

But it's also true that web is being increasingly unusable for dial-up people. Web mavens just assume that everyone has broadband.

5. You can turn off image rendering in Firefox
To speed up loading of pages of text. Tools > Options > Content - there are options to allow sites of your choice to display images.

6. DSL is not enough for too many sites now a days
All the Flash, Java scripts, graphics, CSS...

And yet the Internet suppliers will not up-grade their pipes. Instead plowing their profits into pay raises and bonuses for the upper management.
