Looking for best wifi on the market for home use.
I'm ready to go wireless. So opinions are welcome.

What's the best remote box? Is there one out there that is both wireless and can handle a land line? Do I have to add anything special to it to make it more hacker proof?

1. What exactly are you trying to do? Are you just trying to set up a home wireless network so
your devices at home can communicate with each other? Are you trying to make sure your devices at home can access the internet without being wired? Are you trying to eliminate a land line for internet access?

3. I made an impulse purchase.
N600 Wireless Dual Band Netgear.

Basically, I want it to accept land lines for our old computers, and wireless for the laptops and wildlife cams.

2. I think you're talking about setting up a wireless network
If so, you probably only need a "wireless router". The setup would be something like this:

If you're currently connected to high-speed internet, you probably have a computer connected to a something like a DSL/cable modem. The wireless router would go in between these. Wireless routers typically have a number of ports to connect computers via cables, as well as wirelessly.

There are some steps in setting up the wireless router that are important for security - particularly making sure it uses encryption - these are codes only you know, and set up on the devices (like a laptop) that you want to be able to access your wireless network.

Some of the popular and inexpensive wireless routers are made by D-Link or Linksys.

4. You sound very techie oriented.
One of the main reason for the wireless is to add wireless wildlife cams. I haven't looked at the instructions yet (need to add the wireless network first), but as far as I can tell, it just involves adding somekind of adapter to the router.

Oh, and as I stated in the above post:

5. The wireless camera use is interesting
The router you picked looks like a good one. If the cameras are compatible with the network you shouldn't need any other hardware, unless they're not in range of the router - in which case you may need a wireless repeater.

Good luck!
