Anybody have opinions about using AMD 6-cores in a business-oriented desktop?
This wouldn't be used for gaming or heavy image-processing, but good multitasking might matter

1. Depends what you're running
If you're running a heavy-duty desktop app like a GIS browser eg. ARCview or an ORACLE front-end (NOT web-based), the more the merrier.

If you're doing basic office productivity, a 486 will do.

2. Multi cores do not guarantee
better multi tasking. Hell most application developers are not even doing multi core optimizations. My feeling is, that is the price for many cores is right, then buy it. i.e. if i can get a 6 core for the same price as a 4 core hell yeah.
