here is a kind of weird one - mouse or screen won't scroll left
kid has been playing roller coaster tycoon this week (storms keeping him in) and tonight somehting happened where the display wouldn't scroll to the left when the cursor was all the way to the right hand side of the screen. It would go up or down when cursor was on top/bottom and it would scroll to the right when cursor was to the left. He had to click and "grab" to move the display to the left. Any ideas? He unplugged and replugged the usb plug and restarted the computer to no avail.

1. are you by chance running Ubuntu?
There's some weird bug in the screensaver package for Ubuntu 9.10 that causes the mouse to act crazy. If you are using Ubuntu, be sure to d/l the update package for the screensavers. Other than that, do you have a spare mouse to try? Might be a bad mouse, and they're pretty cheap to replace.

Good luck.

2. thanks and update
no we are lamers with xp home
this IS the replacement mouse - (not that it couldn't be defective but it has been ok and it is newish) an optical to finally replace the cat hair infested roller ball. (new one is a logitech cheapo from wally world, so there is THAT)

It seemed to be working again after I let him have the computer back.

The only thing I can think of that I did was resized an open window right before I logged off. The margin was just a hair "off" so I hit the little size icon in the upper right, it "jiggled" and went to the full edge. Then he got on, started the game and it was working fine. ??? Not sure how a firefox window could possible affect a game but maybe?
