Windows 7 Pricing

This is actually a NewEgg thing, not Microsoft directly.

What's up with this?

Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit OEM: 174.99

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116760

Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit OEM 30pk: 5,949.99

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116792

174.99 * 30 = 5249.70

5949.99 / 30 = 198.33

Why would I buy the 30 pack?

What am I missing here? Is my calculator broken?

1. lol
Might be to catch out the unwary corporate buyer, or an honest fuck-up. I see the singles are $172.99 if you buy 10+...

2. What we lose in units, we'll make up in volume
Somebody decided to make that work.

Ever check those price per oz breakdowns on shelf tags at the grocery? That happens a lot. A lot more often than I'd expect. Buying the bigger box isn't always the best deal.

4. Good question

I've wondered myself why B2B is often more expensive than retail. Apparently some buyers fail to shop around, which is fine, as long as their business is doing well. If a business is tight on cash and then still paying higher prices than necessary, that's when I really get confused.
